Brand Claims

What does Bataleon claim about this board? [Everett] The brand claims this as claims as the true twin camber board that can really bring the park riding even outside of the park.

Overall Impressions

What is your overall impression of this board? [Everett] I think this is still such a great, iconic board, and there’s a reason it’s been up in Bataleon’s lineup for so long. They have it completely figured out with this awesome freestyle do-it-all board.

Carving

How does it turn? [Everett] This is a true twin-shape board. It has a metal flex on it. And with that, it is going to be able to press, pop, and butter where you need it to but still be stable when you’re hitting the rest of the mound or trying to load in on those edges.

How is its energy/acceleration? [Everett] This board has carbon stringers running through it on the side wall, and then in the back foot. It has a cross weave that will give you that extra stability and power that will come out of it.

Freestyle

How is it for freestyle snowboarding? [Everett] It is a dominant freestyle board. But if you don’t want to spend your 100% time in the park and want to go outside, you can do it on this thing.

Could you speak about playfulness and pop? [Everett] It’s just a fun, playful board that can snap, pop, and launch you wherever you want to take it.

Is it good for riding switch? [Everett] The true twin shape will be able to pop you whether you’re riding switch or regular — it doesn't matter.

How is it for buttering? [Everett] The mellow flex point is super fun with camber going all the way through this, but that Triple Base Technology in that tip and tail is going to keep you floating when you need it, able to butter around, so you’re not catching those contact points.

How is it on jumps? [Everett] It's going to be reliable hitting jumps, jibs, and anything in between.

Freeride

How is it in powder? [Everett] It’s not something you want to take out on a powder day.

How is it in uneven terrain and chunder? [Everett] Uneven terrain, some chunder, some bumps— it’s not where it’s going to excel. That mid-flex will kick out a bit, but that does not mean it can’t do that. I really don’t want to write off too much about what this board can’t do, but it does not excel in many all-mountain conditions.

How is it riding in the trees? How is its maneuverability? [Everett] It’s not something you’ll want to take into the trees.

What terrain is this board good for? [Everett] Off-piste terrain— this thing can still handle it. It's definitely not its sweet spot; that’s not what it's built for. Plenty of other boards in Bataleon’s lineup can destroy those conditions, but you’re still going to have fun on it, even on slushy days.

What kind of terrain should riders avoid with it? [Everett]I would never bring this out if I were like in a big slalom or fresh powder ride first thing in the morning and I really want to lay in those carves.

Recommendations

Who would you recommend this board to? [Everett] I recommend this board for a park-style rider who really wants to push the limits of their riding, and when they want to get out of the park, they can still do it on this thing. They don’t need a separate park board. This is the one that can be a real resort ripper.

Who should avoid this board, are there other better options out there for them? [Everett] If you’re going for the more freeriding side of things, this is definitely not a carving board. There are a few other boards I’d jump onto first before hopping on this thing.
