The Curated Take
3.2/5
The Wilson Fifty Elite Golf Ball is a budget-friendly option for beginners or cost-conscious golfers. It offers adequate durability and versatile performance, making it a decent all-around golf ball. While it doesn't excel in any specific aspect, it aligns well with its prominent black line. The ball delivers decent greenside spin and satisfactory overall performance without sacrificing distance. It's a solid choice for those starting in golf on a budget.

Expert Reviews of the Wilson 2022 Fifty Elite Golf Balls
Jonathan Belanger The Wilson Fifty Elite Golf Ball is average at just about everything. It gets me just enough spin to be used in most situations. The distance won't "wow" someone but isn’t going to leave them wanting more either, and it’s adequately durable. One thing this ball excels in is the alignment for putting. The thick black line with the “Fifty Elite” in white is as wide as a Sharpie line, making lining up putts easier. This ball provides good value for the price and should be considered by anyone just getting into golf on a budget.

Alignment
4/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 4 of 5 stars. The alignment aid is a dark black line with "Fifty Elite" printed in white. I like it because it’s thick enough to line up putts and works with most putters easily. The design isn’t a distraction on shots away from the green and saves the need to add a Sharpie line.
Durability
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. Considering the Wilson Fifty Elite is a budget ball, it does hold up well for its price. However, scuff marks started to show after using the same ball for several holes. Nevertheless, it has adequate durability.
Greenside Spin
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. When hitting shots around the green, the ball rolls out more than with a premium ball. The hard cover is mostly to blame for this, but it does have some stopping power. I would be hesitant to try lower spinners as the ball may roll out more than anticipated, but bump-and-run and flop shots should be fine for most golfers.
Spin
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. I don't notice anything crazy regarding spin with this ball. The spin is neither too high nor too low off the tee, and I like the ball flight. The ball spins less on approach shots, so my scoring irons have slightly less stopping power.
Feel
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. I don't mind the feel of the Fifty Elite. I have good distance control on putts. The feeling isn’t impressive on full shots, but it isn’t terrible.
Distance
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. The Wilson Fifty Elite has about an average distance. The lower spin on approach shots adds some distance, but the ball's aerodynamics also negate it, so the irons carry about what I would expect. I don’t lose a lot of total distance off the tee, but I think a few yards of carry distance is lost.
FAQs
Why did you choose this product?
Jonathan Belanger I chose this golf ball because I wanted to see how it would perform compared to the top-level golf balls that are more expensive.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Jonathan Belanger For the price, these golf balls are tough to beat. While they don’t particularly excel in anything, they are a decent all-around golf ball. Someone will want to look elsewhere for peak performance, but for a beginner looking for good value and a golf ball that won't make the game more difficult, the Fifty Elite is a great option.
What do you love about this product?
Jonathan Belanger What I like about the Wilson Fifty Elite golf ball is that for around $20 per dozen, I get a solid ball that can do a little bit of everything.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Jonathan Belanger My favorite moment with this ball was my bump-and-run shot from 30 yards out. I used a 9-iron and watched the ball bounce onto the green and slowly reach three feet from the hole. I liked the feedback I received from the contact, and the ball followed the path I aimed for.
