Brand Claims

What does Cobra claim about this club? [Ryan\ Cobra claims that this is a great, versatile golf club. It has tunable draw bias and unrivaled stability to inspire maximum confidence from the fairway or off the tee.

Overall Impressions

What are the specs of the club you are testing? [Ryan\ Fifteen and a half degrees shaft, Kai’li White 60 S shaft, and Lamkin 360 Crossline grip.

What is your overall impression of the club? [Ryan\ It’s not my favorite in the line, but I see a great place in the marketplace for it. Very forgiving. I was happy with how I aimed at the right side of the fairway and drew it right back into the fairway. So, it does do its job. It’s very high launching. It’s got that eight-gram weight and a three-gram weight in the heel. So it’s definitely draw bias. I was not going to miss that ball. If you need that kind of help, it’s excellent. But overall, I’m pretty impressed with it as far as a higher-handicap, forgiving club.

Review

How is it for distance? [Ryan\ Tech distance is great. It helps get the ball in the air. So, anybody who struggled with the wood in the past will really help them get the ball in the air and get them more distance.

How is it for forgiveness? [Ryan\ Very, very forgiving. Like I said, draw bias. I’m eliminating half of the course, which helps. There’s no miss right, and I was finding the fairway with it.

How is it for workability? [Ryan\ Not a ton of workability. You can tune it a little bit, especially with the adjustability on here, but it is a point-and-shoot golf club that is supposed to help if you slice it and get it back in the fairway for you.

How is its launch? [Ryan\ Very, very high.

How is it in terms of ball speed? [Ryan\ Not too bad, though it slowed down a little bit just because of the launch and spin numbers I was getting.

How is it for spin? [Ryan\ Definitely some more spin there.

What may make a player shy away from it? [Ryan\ It has a bit of a thicker look than the standard model, so I think better players may shy away from it just because of how big and tall it stands, But it’s not a huge difference from the standard model.

How would you describe the sound of this club and feel at impact? [Ryan\ I love the sound and the feel of this 3-wood. I love them way better than I like the drivers from a sound-and-feel standpoint. I thought they felt great. I loved the feedback I got upon contact.

How does weight affect different players? [Ryan\ Weight is going to affect a little bit differently. There’s an eight-gram weight in the back of the standard model. There’s a 12-gram weight in the back of the max for more forgiveness. So, it will feel slightly different, probably heavier on the back side. If you can feel that four-gram weight difference, it is definitely going to kick that loft up a little bit and for a higher ball flight.

Is the club adjustable? [Ryan\ It can go down to 14 or up to 17 degrees on the loft. And then you can actually switch out the weights if you want to. It would make it a little bit lower launching and less forgiving, theoretically, but it will have a little more heel weight. If the slice is getting bad and you still have a slight slice or some right miss, and you don’t want any right miss but let it lower launch, switch those around. There’s some adjustability you can do there.

Are there any drawbacks to this club? [Ryan\ It is draw biased, so if you don’t need that, if you’re already a hooker of a golf ball, you already hit a draw, or you already hit a high ball, This is probably not what you want. It’s going to accentuate that issue.

Recommendations

Who would you recommend this club to? [Ryan\ I recommend this for higher-handicap golfers who are slicing missing right. If you haven’t upgraded your 3-wood in three to five years and need a club, this is worth your consideration. There’s also a ladies’ option as well. I know a lot of ladies I interact with want more distance and haven’t upgraded in a while. COBRA is an excellent choice for women who want distance because it’s effortless distance.

Who should avoid this club, and what type of club would be a better option for that player? [Ryan\ Lower handicappers, guys that want lower ball flight, guys who want to work the ball with lower spin options.
