Brand Claims
What does Burton claim about this board? [Arielle] Burton claims that Feelgood is the board that sets the standard for all-mountain riding. Its directional shape navigates easily through variable conditions, making it their number-one board for conquering all terrain. The rocker-infused freedom of the Flying V profile is the perfect match for aspiring pros or just riders who demand every advantage.
Overall Impressions
What is your overall impression of this board? [Arielle] Given its flying V profile, which makes it a hybrid profile, you’ll get a little bit of a rocker there. It puts a pivot point right in the center of the board, making it very easy to turn. It’s super confidence inspiring, especially for people struggling to link their turns consistently or just feeling like they’re not super confident in their progressional or beginner snowboarding skills.
Carving
How does it turn? [Arielle] It is super easy to turn. You can feel that point right in the center, giving you a nice little pivot point. It’s very easy to initiate and super easy to maneuver.
What is the edge hold like? [Arielle] It will go edge to edge very easily. You’re going to be able to carve on this. I was able to make some nice sweeping carves. However, it lacked that locked-in feel. So, I think it’s really good to learn how to carve and to get into those first carve turns.
How does it perform at speed? [Arielle] This board had a speed limit. That doesn’t mean I couldn’t get it up to speed. I could only keep up with the people I was riding with. At high speed, it still has a little bit of control. It’s not going to feel as in control at high speed as the camber version is going to feel.
Freestyle
How is it for freestyle snowboarding? [Arielle] You can go over some jumps, do some straighteners, and get playful with this thing. This thing wants to get playful. It wants you to explore the whole mountain. It wants you to get into everything.
Could you speak about playfulness and pop? [Arielle] This board will help you turn on a dime and help build the confidence we’re all looking for when we first start in this sport. The place where it will fall short is in its pop. It doesn’t have a crazy amount of pop.
Is it good for riding switch? [Arielle] I could ride switch on this thing and definitely through some 180s. The only problem I had was that it took a lot of effort to pop up there.
How is it for buttering? [Arielle] I had some nice butters on this thing. The Flying V and that extra rocker that's in this one helped me with that a little bit.
How is it on jumps? [Arielle] I need to work a little bit harder to get it up in the air. That doesn’t mean that you can’t start to do some straight airs or some other tricks on some jumps, but if you like to be in the air all the time and you like that pop, you like that responsiveness, and you like that tight control on the mountain, I recommend going for the Camber profile version of this board.
Freeride
How is it for freeride snowboarding? [Arielle] This board will be perfect for greens and blues, just cruising on those groomers, making some big sweeping turns, working on your calves, or working on your skidded turns.
How is it in powder? [Arielle] In the Flying V profile, it’s going to be a little bit more floaty. It’s going to kind of float on top of the powder. It’s going to do phenomenal in the powder.
How is it in uneven terrain and chunder? [Arielle] You can take it into uneven terrain. You can take it into bumps. As I said, this thing is meant to get you to make those consistent turns.
How is it riding in the trees? How is its maneuverability? [Arielle] It can go in trees, and it can handle some uneven terrain. But you’re going to feel very cruisy on this thing.
What terrain is this board good for? [Arielle] It will be very easy to navigate the entire mountain and explore and figure out what kind of snowboarder you want to be.
What kind of terrain should riders avoid with it? [Arielle] Where this board is not going to excel is more of the big mountain. And I wouldn't say this is a park board, because it lacks some of those freestyle features.
Recommendations
Who would you recommend this board to? [Arielle] This board will make you fall in love with snowboarding, and it’s definitely a board that I will recommend to my beginners and my intermediates.
