Brand Claims

What does Decathlon claim about this board? [Arielle] Decathlon claims this is an ultra-lively and easygoing board to learn to snowboard confidently. Its flat camber, large rocker, and soft flexibility put an end to any edge mistakes. Your session will be enjoyable, and you will learn a lot.

Overall Impressions

What is your overall impression of this board? [Arielle] My overall impression of this board is that it is exactly how it is advertised. With my instructing background, the skills you learn as a beginner snowboarder would be made very easy on this board. It was surprisingly stable at higher speeds. The only thing it truly lacked was a little pop and dampness. But other than that, overall, I felt like it was a great budget-friendly board for that intermediate to even beginner rider.

Carving

How does it turn? [Arielle] There’s no catch feeling with these edges. You can feel that rocker wants to give you all the confidence you need to connect those turns and gain confidence all over the mountain.

What is the edge hold like? [Arielle] This board would hold a great edge on harder-packed snow and soft stuff.

How damp is the board? Do you feel any underfoot chatter? [Arielle] This board definitely isn’t the most damp. I didn’t think it absorbed too much, but that could be because of the profile. The riders going to be on this aren’t going to be doing too much, so for the skills you’ll be getting after for this thing, you’ll be just fine.

How does it perform at speed? [Arielle] I tried not to ride it super aggressively, because it’s meant for a beginner to intermediate rider. However, I still did it, and it was really stable.

How is its energy/acceleration? [Arielle] I did push this board a little bit, and no, it wasn’t the most stable snowboard I’ve ever been on, but for getting it up to speed and pushing the boundaries of the board, it hung.

Freestyle

How is it for freestyle snowboarding? [Arielle] It’s definitely going to allow you to learn the basics of freestyle and all-mountain riding.

Could you speak about playfulness and pop? [Arielle]It wasn’t the poppiest because it is a little bit rocker dominant in the profile, but it’s easy to ride in terms of playfulness.

How is it for buttering? [Arielle] I could press and butter it because it is a softer-flexing board.

How is it on jumps? [Arielle] In my landings, even though I mentioned that it didn’t have a crazy pop, I could take it over some jumps. But the landings were not super damp, not the best, and not the most stable.

Freeride

How is it in powder? [Arielle] Because of the softer flex, this thing really could float. This would be an excellent board for a beginner on the East Coast or a beginner out west who might encounter hard-pack and softer snow.

How is it riding in the trees? How is its maneuverability? [Arielle] If you take it into a little bit of trees because you want to dabble, or in uneven terrain, pow, or even some bumps, this board can definitely hang.

What terrain is this board good for? [Arielle] This board is going to be great in all-mountain terrain. It thrives on more big, open, groomed trails where you can hone in on your beginner skills. It definitely can get through on some more mellower terrain. It’s easy to control at slower speeds, so as you learn and go a little slower, it will be catch-free and confidence inspiring.

What kind of terrain should riders avoid with it? [Arielle] I don’t necessarily want to bring this board on steep and technical terrain. Because of the flex of this board, I would probably avoid more of that steeper technical terrain and stick more to those greens and blue groomers.

Recommendations

Who would you recommend this board to? [Arielle] I highly recommend this board to someone looking for their first board and getting into the sport.

Who should avoid this board, are there other better options out there for them? [Arielle] If you're going to try and be the next Chloe Kim, you'll want something with a little bit more camber in it.
