The Curated Take
4.8/5
The Le Creuset 1.25-qt Demi Teakettle is excellent for individuals or small households, efficiently heating water for tea or small French press servings. Its compact design with a movable handle suits kitchens with limited space. The kettle's small capacity is not ideal for large volumes, and caution is needed to prevent overfilling. It features a tight-fitting lid, ensuring heat retention, and is praised for its easy cleaning and quick, even heating. Compatible with various stovetops, its durable, lightweight construction comes in several colors, offering style and functionality. While pricier, its quality justifies the investment for daily use.

Expert Reviews of the Le Creuset 1.25-qt Demi Teakettle
Kylee Hazelgren The size of the Le Creuset teakettle is ideal for anyone living solo. The small capacity is great for heating water for tea or coffee while looking stylish on the stovetop. The moveable handle is an excellent feature, as it doesn't get in the way while filling the teakettle.
One thing to note is to fill it up only a little with water. If one fills it too high, it’ll likely spew water out of the whistle when it comes to a boil.
My teakettle is in a beautiful grayish-blue color that matches nicely with my kitchen. Customers should be able to find a color that fits their aesthetic.
Kate Wilson I purchased this kettle on a whim while in a seaside gift store in the San Juan Islands. While I had two other kettles already at home, the stunning color of this one sold me immediately, and I couldn't wait to display it on my stove.
The size is a bit smaller than my other traditional-sized kettles, but it's perfect because I love making a fresh pot of tea every afternoon or a smaller French press coffee in the mornings.
The whistle works as designed, the handle is very sturdy, and the quality of the kettle overall is just outstanding. It's worth every penny!

Ease of Cleaning
5/5
Kylee Hazelgren gave 5 of 5 stars. The teakettle is easy to keep clean. I usually wipe down the outside with a damp microfiber cloth, which keeps my teakettle looking shiny and new. There is not much I have to do to keep the teakettle looking nice, even after using it daily.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. As with most stovetop kettles, the Le Creuset Demi has multiple moving parts. This model is slightly smaller than the average kettle, making those parts even smaller. I anticipated that keeping this kettle clean would be a challenge, but in fact, it cleans up very quickly with a regular (soft) dish brush. Even the heat marks on the bottom come right off with a little pressure on the abrasive side of a sponge.
Capacity
4/5
Kylee Hazelgren gave 2 of 5 stars. This size is great for a small household. I would not recommend filling the teakettle to the top, as it can spew water out of the whistle when it comes to a boil. If someone needs a large quantity of water boiled, I recommend purchasing a larger teakettle.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. This petite-sized kettle is perfect for one but also a great fit for small families. I can fill up our 12oz French press for my partner and still have enough water for a cup of tea or two. I recommend a size up on this kettle for a larger family or those who need to fill up a larger French press.
Heat Distribution
5/5
Kylee Hazelgren gave 5 of 5 stars. This teakettle heats evenly and efficiently. I never fill my kettle up all the way, and it only takes a few minutes for the water to come to a boil. Other teakettles I have had in the past of this size take much longer to boil.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. There's no need to crank the flame up on a gas stove. The medium heat does the trick on this smaller-sized kettle. Carbon steel material heats up and boils water in seven minutes (on medium). It stays hot, too, which is great because I love to sit by the fire and enjoy multiple cups of tea. It's much more efficient than my older budget tea kettle.

Kylee Hazelgren gave 5 of 5 stars. This teakettle meets all my needs and more regarding having a reliable teakettle that I can use daily. It even looks nice to display on my stovetop when I am not using it. I recommend this teakettle for anyone who lives in a small household.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. I have used this kettle in more than one kitchen, and it performs consistently on each type of stove. The finish is not affected by the type of stove, either. All marks are wiped clean, and the finish stays nice on the bottom.
Quality
5/5
Kylee Hazelgren gave 5 of 5 stars. I've compared this teakettle to others, and the quality is unmatched. The carbon steel construction ensures that my teakettle is lightweight, making it easy to maneuver even when full. A lot of thought went into the design, and it's well-made.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. As expected with all things Le Creuset, this kettle is high quality in aesthetics and use. There are no chips or scratches, despite moving between houses/kitchens, and while the lid had a very tight fit at first, it has loosened up enough that removing it to fill it with water is much easier. It's still tight-fitting, though, and keeps water and heat from leaking out.
Handle Quality
5/5
Kylee Hazelgren gave 5 of 5 stars. One of my favorite features about this teakettle is the handle. I can move the handle to the side. This is great for storage or keeping the handle out of the way when filling the teakettle up with water.
Kate Wilson gave 5 of 5 stars. The handle on this kettle stays where I put it; in my case, it stays standing straight up so that it doesn't get too hot to touch. Left unattended for several minutes (15+), it will definitely become hot to the touch, but letting it sit off the heat for about a minute will cool it down. I love the durable feel and gorgeous finish on this handle.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Kylee Hazelgren This efficient and attractive teakettle can hold up to 1.25 quarts of liquid, which is excellent for a small household. What I love about Le Creuset's products, in general, is the variety of color options. I tend to lean more towards neutral colors, so I went with the color "Sea Salt," which is a grayish-blue to match my kitchen better. The moveable handle is convenient for filling it up with water.
Kate Wilson I love that this kettle will look good in any kitchen I use it in. Aesthetics are a big thing for me, and I definitely keep everything by this brand on full display. I also appreciate knowing that this will last a lifetime with proper care. It's easy to clean, fast and efficient, and extremely sturdy.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Kate Wilson I spotted this kettle while on a picturesque little island near Seattle. I couldn't wait to get home and display it in my kitchen. But my favorite moment was (and still is) sitting by the fire and refilling my cup over and over. Water stays hot, the kettle is small and easy to transport, and its beauty adds to the moment's pleasure.
Why did you choose this product?
Kylee Hazelgren I didn't know I was looking for a new teakettle until I found this one. I instantly loved the shape and design, and I liked the idea of having a smaller teakettle at home for making a pot of tea for just myself or a couple of friends.
Kate Wilson I chose this kettle because of its aesthetic and because I know Le Creuset is a trusted, durable brand. All of the other kettles I've purchased in the past have been larger, and I end up boiling more than necessary. This kettle boils the perfect amount for my small family, enough to fill the French press, plus a few cups of tea for myself or to enjoy a full pot of tea on a solo day in the office or by the fire.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Kylee Hazelgren At first, I hesitated to pay more than I am used to for a teakettle, but this was worth the price. I own a couple of teakettles that are different sizes. One teakettle is a bit larger, from a different brand, and was much cheaper. When I compare the two, the main difference I notice is in quality. I have had my large teakettle longer than the Demi teakettle, but I have noticed over time that my larger teakettle is starting to chip on the outside, and I am noticing some rust. In contrast, I haven't noticed anything similar to that happening to my Le Creuset teakettle.
Kate Wilson The value of the Demi teakettle is good compared to others in the size range and with similar features. Every other I have owned inevitably chips, and while this doesn't affect the performance of the kettle, it does take away from the aesthetics. Since many people keep theirs on the stove, chips and blemishes are generally not something someone wants to see. Every other aspect of this kettle offers supreme quality, too. The materials and construction are top-notch, from the sturdy, stay-put handle to the flip-top on the spout.
