Brand Claims
What does Rossigno claim about this board? [Everett] They claim this as their progression-friendly intro-to-freestyle board.
[Yuri] The brand claims this is a great entry-level snowboard, fun do-it-all twin that is very freestyle capable at a great price point.
Overall Impressions
What is your overall impression of this board? [Everett] It has camber between the feet and a rocker in the tip to tail. It is about 3 out of 10 stiffness. I was incredibly blown away by how much fun a super-soft board was. This is definitely for someone who wants to get into the park. This is one of the better intro-to-park boards I’ve ridden in a very long time. This is a confidence-inspiring board you can play around with for days. The pressability is amazing with that rocker, but it’s so well balanced. With the camber profile between the feet, you can lock in where you need to but get over the nose or tail when you want to and start playing around that. This is one of the best-designed park boards I’ve ridden in a while.
[Yuri] I was a little bit concerned about the sizing. It was 156 wide. I personally would size up, being I am 6’ 6” and a bigger dude, but I was blown away at how playful and inviting this was. It’s very freestyle friendly, ready to press, ready for anyone to learn how to turn. If you are looking for either a bag or a little bit of both, this is a great board for that option. It is a very inviting price point, too, which is pretty tough to beat. Overall, this is a very inviting twin.
Carving
How does it turn? [Yuri] For a 3-out-of-10 flex, this board is designed to keep you very much ready to work on linking turns. However, it was great for even taking it a step further and dabbling in tighter turns and boosting sidehits.
What is the edge hold like? [Everett] I was insanely impressed that I could take this on the entire mountain, hit sidehits, hit bumps, and mess around on steeper terrain. It’s more aggressive, icier conditions here on the East Coast, and it still could lock in, and I did not feel that loose.
[Yuri] I expected this thing to fold over, being a 3 out of 10 flex, but it could hold its own.
How damp is the board? Do you feel any underfoot chatter? [Everett] Normally, you will feel that dampness on a more park-specific board. You’re going to get washed out. For some reason, I couldn’t find many incidents where this happened to me.
[Yuri] Despite being soft, the impressive part was its stability underfoot. It still allowed me to hold my own as I began exploring not just beginner terrain but also intermediate and a little bit of expert dabbling and sidehits as well.
How does it perform at speed? [Yuri] This board is not designed for aggressive, high-speed riding.
How is its energy/acceleration? [Yuri] This can hold you down if you’re looking to explore a bit of everything at cruiser speed.
Freestyle
How is it for freestyle snowboarding? [Everett] This thing had a great cam rocker profile, so I could explore the entire mountain, play and everything I was doing, feel locked in, and even try much more than you would expect on a beginner park board. This board will bring you into the park and make you feel you’re among the best.
[Yuri] I think Midwest rail kids, or even just someone looking to work on riding rails and boxes in general, would be pretty psyched about working on those tricks with this snowboard.
Could you speak about playfulness and pop? [Everett] Having that camber profile between the feet will make it much nicer to feel stability when needed. However, this is still very playful ... buttering, pressing, hitting rails, and hitting your first box.
[Yuri] This is a playful option for a learning East Coast snowboarder.
Is it good for riding switch? [Yuri] The true twin experience makes this very easy to ride in both directions with the inviting turning shape. If you want to work on switch, this is the board for that.
How is it for buttering? [Yuri] This board has a very inviting flex that locks you in underfoot and lets you explore that first butter or carve or even hold you down if you are a veteran on a budget.
Freeride
How is it for freeride snowboarding? [Yuri] I would not recommend this board for someone looking to freeride and ride technical lines in steeper terrain and looking to slay the backcountry.
How is it in powder? [Yuri] I think this board handles well on ice. It's not ideal for powder, but it's definitely manageable.
How is it riding in the trees? How is its maneuverability? [Yuri] I would actually ride this a ton in the trees just because of how quick it is to enter in and out of turns.
What terrain is this board good for? [Everett] This is definitely a board that is going to be able to open up that freestyle capabilities all over the mountain and start nailing those tricks you’ve always wanted to start getting into.
Recommendations
Who would you recommend this board to? [Yuri] If you're looking to get away from rentals, make your first investment, this is a great investment to get away from the loose feel of rental snowboards and dive into something with a little bit more bite but is still friendly as you're looking to learn how to link those first turns.
Who should avoid this board, are there other better options out there for them? [Everett] I would not recommend this for those freeriders, a harder charger looking for a carver powder board. This is definitely not the board you will be looking for when it comes to this. It is not designed for that.
[Yuri] If you’re looking to lay trenches or ride bigger features as you progress in the park, you probably should look towards maybe the Jibsaw or something else in Rossignol’s line that is slightly stiffer.
