Brand Claims

What does Titleist claim about this club? Titleist claims that the Titleist TSR3 Fairway Wood is going to be an improved player's profile shaping that is going to give a little bit more adjustability with a SureFit CG track to help optimize distance and launch.

Overall Impressions

What are the specs of the club you are testing? The specs of the Titleist TSR3 fairway wood that I tested are a 15-degree 3-wood head in a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K black, stiff-flex shaft in 75 grams.

What is your overall impression of the club? My first impressions of the club is that it certainly wasn't as forgiving and had a more penetrating ball flight than the TSR2 fairway wood. It does have a little bit more of a refined shape as well that is going to really appeal to a lot of better players.

Review

How is it for forgiveness? The TSR3 fairway wood is not quite as forgiving as the TSR2 model.

How is it in terms of launch and ball speed? The Titleist TSR3 fairway wood has implemented a more refined shape to give the club more aerodynamics for more ball speed, as well as to lower the center of gravity to help with a more consistent launch.

What do you find unique about its appearance? I really love the overall design and shaping of the TSR3. I think for a lot of low- to mid-handicap players, they're going to like that smaller overall profile. It's going to give them more confidence that they can hit any shot that they want to, either off the tee or from the fairway or the rough.

What may make a player shy away from it? Higher-handicap players that would prioritize a little bit more forgiveness to give them a little bit more confidence and address with that larger footprint may shy away from the smaller, more compact shaping that's on the TSR3.

How would you describe the sound of this club and feel at impact? One thing I really enjoyed about the TSR3 was the sound — really nice, crisp, clean on contact that I think is going to appeal to a lot of players.

Is the club adjustable? The TSR3 is going to offer adjustability on the hosel to allow for loft and lie adjustments. That's going to give players the ability to choose a more penetrating ball flight or to send it a little bit higher in the air if desired. There’s also additional adjustability with the SureFit CG track to help focus in that center of gravity to the specified point of contact for each player.

Are there any drawbacks to this club? The TSR3 is definitely going to be geared towards a slightly better player who can hit a repeatable, consistent spot on the face to get all the benefits out of the SureFit CG track.

Recommendations

Who would you recommend this club to? I would recommend the Titleist TSR3 fairway wood to any player who wants a little bit more workability and adjustability from their fairway wood, as well as someone who may not need a large amount of forgiveness so that they can shape shots easier and get a little bit more ball speed.

Who should avoid this club, and what type of club would be a better option for that player? Players who would want to avoid the TSR3 would be those looking for something with a little bit higher of a forgiveness and a naturally higher launch profile to it. Those players would either be best suited for the TSR2 or the TSR1 models.

Golf clubs work differently for different types of golfers. If you are wondering whether the TSR3 is the right club for you, chat with Kyle or any other Golfing Experts here on Curated, and they’ll put together free, personalized club recommendations on the best fairway wood for your needs.
