Dynastar M-Menace 90 Skis

Let's dive in, starting with the Dynastar Menace 90. Which is a simple poplar core ski that is a great option for beginners to intermediates who are just getting on their first pair of skis. It's a fairly forgiving, easy, playful ski that opens up some more technical terrains like moguls and trees while still performing well on the groomers. But, it isn't overly demanding. This ski just has a simple poplar core. If you look at the product specs, you can see that detail here along with the tip, tail, and waist measurements.

This ski is designed to open up a variety of things on the mountain without being overly demanding. It's also a great ski for teenagers who aren't quite small enough to stay with kid skis these days but still aren't totally ready for adults either. It's just a simple, fun wood ski that's going to take you anywhere you want to go on the mountain but never ask you to ski harder than you're capable of.

It's not exactly a carving ski, it doesn't have the same kind of side cut and locked-in tail shape that a true carving ski would, and it's not going to handle high speeds very well because it doesn't have a ton of reinforcement in that core. But it will open you up to a little bit of park skiing and it will help you tackle things like moguls and trees. So if that's what you're looking for, this could be a great option.

K2 Mindbender 90C Skis

However, if we jump over here to the K2 Mindbender 90C, this is a much better option for those more intermediate skiers moving on to advanced who want to be able to carve a groomer at speed very confidently, but have enough surface area to get off the beaten path into moguls and trees with a little bit more performance. That's thanks to "C" the carbon in the core. That is what it stands for. This ski has carbon running through the core and carbon adds a little bit more stiffness, a little bit more pop, a little bit more dampening, and overall a little bit more power.

But it's not so powerful that an intermediate or even a really strong beginner is going to find it too demanding. So when we look at the scale of stiffnesses in skis, we see foam core, wood carbon core, single sheet of metal, two sheets of metal, and also some unique core materials out there. So this sits really nicely in the middle of the pack in terms of being a ski that offers a good amount of performance without it being too demanding.

It encompasses a really wide variety of skiers from teenagers to older adults who need something that's less demanding even though they're strong skiers. It's also great for weekend warriors who are cruising the blues and out there to have a great time with their families or even my little East Coast daredevils that maybe just don't weigh too much but still want to see that they can get on edge and carve really nicely. It's a wide variety of people that this ski encompasses.
