The Curated Take
4.2/5
The Flylow Unicorn Mitt is an excellent choice for those seeking a warm, waterproof, durable mitten for cold-weather activities. Made with high-quality, soft leather, they are comfortable from the start and offer reliable warmth. They feature a waterproof liner, ensuring hands stay dry even in wet conditions. While they provide great grip and ease of movement, dexterity is somewhat limited, although typical of mittens. The Flylow Unicorn Mitt is ideal for anyone needing reliable cold-weather hand protection. They offer great value, making them an excellent investment for winter sports enthusiasts.

Expert Reviews of the Flylow Unicorn Mitt
Brennan P I have had the Flylow Unicorn Mitt for a couple of ski seasons. These are some of the best mittens I have worn. The quality of the leather used is top-notch and has a soft-to-the-touch feeling. There is a waterproof liner sandwiched between the layers of leather to help keep my hands dry after a long day on the mountain. I like that there are various color options to choose from. I don't really have anything negative to say about these mittens beyond the limited dexterity. Sometimes, the gloves do their job too well and can get a bit warm depending on the day. I recommend these to anyone looking for a very warm pair of leather mittens that won't break the bank. I plan on buying another pair of these when my current ones see the end of their useful life.

Waterproofing
4/5
Brennan P gave 4 of 5 stars. As with most leather mittens, there is always the worry of them soaking through. The Flylow Unicorn Mitt allows me to spend the whole day on the mountain without worrying about wet gloves. However, I still recommend using some leather waterproofing wax with these, as it will help protect the leather and keep moisture out. Be sure to test a small area of leather with the wax because some waxes can change the color of the leather.
Durability
4/5
Brennan P gave 4 of 5 stars. The stitching is straight, and there aren't any stitches coming loose after two seasons of use. The leather quality has held up to the abuse of gripping ski poles and chairlifts run after run. There doesn't really appear to be a weak spot on these. At the end of the day, mittens are a simple product, and I think Flylow knocked it out of the park with these.
Comfort
5/5
Brennan P gave 5 of 5 stars. The leather is soft and supple right out of the package. The wrist cuff is comfortable and will stretch to any size realistically needed. I have had other mittens made from inferior leather that made it tough to grip my ski poles. I have had no such issue with these mittens.
Warmth
5/5
Brennan P gave 5 of 5 stars. I used to have cold hands all the time when I wore gloves. I made the switch to mittens and never turned back. Most mittens will keep hands nice and warm since fingers are all together and retain heat more easily. These are no different. There are no dividers, so my fingers are close together. The insulation is plenty to keep my hands warm on most days I encounter. In addition, if needed, there is enough room in the mitten to put a hand warmer, too.
Ease of Movement
4/5
Brennan P gave 4 of 5 stars. The soft leather on these makes it easy to grip my ski pole. The leather has no stiffness, giving resistance when trying to move my hands. With any mitten, finger dexterity is significantly limited compared to gloves.
Breathability
3/5
Brennan P gave 3 of 5 stars. These mittens can feel like ovens on my hands. They are made of leather and have a waterproof liner, so one can imagine breathability is not the best. If someone usually has no issues with cold hands, they might find these too warm since they are not the most breathable.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Brennan P I have always been more drawn to mittens over gloves because I get cold hands easily. While wearing these mittens, I have never had issues with cold hands. I like that there are no finger separators in the main part of the mitten, so I can ball my hand up on the lift if my hands start to get cold. They are made of soft, supple leather, so breaking them in is unnecessary. All in all, I couldn't ask for more out of a mitten.
Why did you choose this product?
Brennan P I bought this glove because I wanted a warm, waterproof mitten that wouldn't break the bank. Between the quality leather and low price point, getting the Flylow Unicorn Mitt was an easy decision.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Brennan P I don't think there could be a better value mitten than the Flylow Unicorn Mitt. Many other leather mittens can be easily over $100. Other mitten options are cheaper than these, but most of them aren't quite as nice. The Unicorn mitt is a great option if someone is looking for a quality mitten without spending a fortune.
