The Curated Take
4.6/5
The Srixon ZX MKII Fairway Wood is well-suited for golfers seeking a forgiving club that facilitates a high launch and delivers consistent distance. It is versatile enough for use off the tee, on the fairway, or in light rough due to its standard head shape and slightly shallow face. The club's sound may be high-pitched and reminiscent of older fairway woods, but it doesn't detract from the excellent ball flight and feel. The ZX MKII is ideal for players who need a reliable option between their driver and longest iron, offering easy shot shaping and a familiar feel upon impact.

Expert Reviews of the Custom
Jonathan Belanger The Srixon ZX MKII Fairway Wood is very forgiving. I have the 5W and use this club in a lot of situations. I went with the Project X Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 60 for the shaft in 6.0 (stiff) flex. It’s great off the tee, on the fairway, and in light rough. The head shape is fairly standard for fairway woods, and the face is slightly shallow to promote a higher launch. The sound is a little high pitched like fairway woods from 20 years ago, but the feel and ball flight that come with it are unmatched. This is a great club to have after a driver for safety off the tee or to bridge the gap after one's longest iron.

Forgiveness
5/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 5 of 5 stars. The ZX MKII fairway wood is very forgiving. It can be used off the tee, in the fairway, or light rough. The head shape promotes a higher ball flight and is very forgiving across the face. My dispersion is much tighter with the 5W than others I’ve used before.
Feel
5/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 5 of 5 stars. The feel off the face is excellent for a fairway wood. I can tell the strike location while getting great satisfaction on center strikes. Off-center hits don't punish my hands either, which is a bonus. There are many shaft options to get the desired feel on the swing. For example, I chose a counterbalanced shaft to make the clubhead feel lighter.
Workability
4/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 4 of 5 stars. Cuts and draws are pretty easy to hit with this club. Even though it is a wood, I find that I can work the ball both ways fairly easily. Changing trajectory is a little harder, but that could be more on me than the club. However, hitting a set shot is very repeatable with the ZX MKII.
Distance
5/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 5 of 5 stars. Throughout my ownership of the ZX MKII fairway wood, I have found the distance spectacular and remarkably consistent. I can carry 230 regularly with the 5W, and off-center strikes don’t lose that much distance. I can control distance by hitting cuts instead of draws very easily.
Sound
4/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 4 of 5 stars. The sound of the ZX MKII 5W is a higher pitched “ping” similar to fairway woods of the 90s and early 2000s before carbon and other materials were added. For the newer golfer, it may not be a sound that suits the ears, but for people who have been around the game for a while, it is a throwback that will leave a smile on their face on a well-struck shot.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Jonathan Belanger I love how forgiving and easy it is to get a high launch. It’s versatile on the tee box and on approach shots.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Jonathan Belanger On a dogleg left par 5, I hit this 5W off the tee, followed it up with another 5W shot to get on the green in two, and had a great chance for an eagle. Watching the ball fly through the air on the approach shot and land on the front of the green was a great feeling.
Why did you choose this product?
Jonathan Belanger I wanted something that would bridge the gap between my 4-iron and 3-wood. I’ve never really gotten along with hybrids and liked the ZX MKII look, so I gave it a try.
