The Dakine Women's Sequoia GORE-TEX Mittens are ideal for skiers and snowboarders who need reliable warmth in cold conditions. They feature zippered vents for temperature regulation and long wrist gaiters for added protection. These mittens are well-suited for those who prioritize comfort and warmth, especially in colder, drier climates. They are a great choice for intermediate to advanced users looking for a mix of durability and warmth in their winter gear.

Expert Reviews of the Dakine Women's Sequoia GORE-TEX Mittens
Lucia L I have been using the Dakine Sequoia Mittens for as many seasons as I can remember. These are my go-to cold day mitts as they 100% keep my hands dry and toasty warm. The pocket zips are great for putting little things in, like my pass, shooters, or hand warmers. The mitts have a durable rubber palm that will keep snowboarders' hands dry. Like any GORE-TEX product, the waterproofness of the mitt will wear off over the years, but one can probably Nikwax them to prolong the water resistance. These mitts are still my go-to option on those dryer cold days.

Waterproofing
4/5
Lucia L gave 4 of 5 stars. During the first few seasons, my original Dakine Sequoia Mitts held up exceptionally well to water and snow. I washed them occasionally with Nikwax, but they did pretty well on their own. Yet, after a few seasons, the GORE-TEX gave out a bit. I noticed this on the wetter days when the mitts turned into sponges. After a few hours of pouring rain, the mitts weighed about 15lbs each, fully soaked with water. However, they did great when the GORE-TEX still functioned.
Durability
4/5
Lucia L gave 4 of 5 stars. The Dakine Sequoia Mitts are well-made and have put up with lots of wear and tear over the years but still perform as they should. I have had one pair for over eight seasons, and they still look and perform somewhat the way they should. My newer pair still looks like new. They have rubber reinforcements on the palm, which helps protect the mitt when grabbing the chair or rope tows. The only drawback is that the softer materials on the thumb wears down over time.
Comfort
5/5
Lucia L gave 5 of 5 stars. The Dakine Sequoia Mitts are comfy. They have plenty of padding over the fingers, which feels soft and cozy with the lining. They are always super warm, even on colder days. One of my favorite features is that they have over-the-jacket cuffs, meaning I won't have a gap between my mitts and sleeve cuffs.
Warmth
5/5
Lucia L gave 5 of 5 stars. The Dakine Sequoias are my go-to mitt for the chilly days when the air is dry and icy. The extra padding over the fingers ensures my hands stay nice and warm all day. The over-the-jacket cuffs help avoid any gaps between sleeves and gloves as well. They don't have finger slots inside, allowing me to move my hands freely and bunch my hands up when it's really cold.
Ease of Movement
5/5
Lucia L gave 5 of 5 stars. The Dakine Sequoia Mitts are easy to move in and within them. The mitts don't have finger guides, allowing me to move my hands freely and put them into fists when it's cold. I also find it easy to grab things and do stuff while wearing my mitts, even doing my helmet clip.
Breathability
4/5
Lucia L gave 4 of 5 stars. For the most part, I don't have an issue with the breathability of my Dakine Sequoia Mitts. They have these little pockets to insert hand warmers, keys, passes, or snacks into while I am riding, so sometimes I open them, which helps cool down the mitt. Most of the time, I just take my mitts off when it's too warm and let my hands cool down while riding the lift. I wish there were a little more breathability, but since I wear these on the colder days, I don't mind that they keep my hands snug and warm.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Lucia L I keep using my Sequoia Mitts and always come back to them because of their comfort and durability. I have put them through thick and thin over the seasons, and after six years of use, I still wear them. I have a newer pair, but the trustworthy backups still come in handy occasionally and always perform great.
Why did you choose this product?
Lucia L I received my original mitts as a Christmas gift many winters ago. I am definitely a mitt kid, so I was super happy to receive them. I loved the mitts from the start and never had an issue with them, so when my trustworthy pair with more than 200 ski days on it started giving out, I ordered a new Sequoia mitt. I like the features that came with the mitts and their build, and I knew that buying a new pair would give me a durable mitt to last me at least a few more seasons.
