The Curated Take

4.5/5

The Salomon S/Pro HV 120 ski boots are excellent for skiers with wider feet or high-volume riders seeking performance. These boots, featuring a 102mm last, offer a comfortable fit for larger feet and high arches. The micro-adjustable aluminum buckles enhance tuning and power delivery. With a flex rating of 120, they provide the right balance of stiffness for intermediate to advanced skiing, ensuring a locked-in heel feel and responsive control. However, they may be too wide for some. Ideal for those prioritizing comfort without sacrificing style and performance, they are perfect for all-mountain skiing but lack a walk mode.

Ideal for
  • Accommodates wider feet
  • Ideal for high-volume riders who still want performance
  • Offers both comfort and style

Expert Reviews of the Salomon S/Pro HV 120 Ski Boots

Connor Grillo The Solomon S/Pro HV is an amazing boot for any skier who is larger in size and stature or has wider feet. The anatomical 102 mm last makes the boot incredibly comfortable and less cramped than 98 or 100 last boots. The HV nature of the boot also means those with high arches and bigger feet won't be cramped by the "roof" of the boot. Its micro-adjustable screwed aluminum buckles ensure direct power delivery and accurate tuning by adjusting the boots precisely to the wearer. This boot is one of the best 102 last HVs on the market.

Review Ratings

Claimed Stiffness Accuracy

5/5
Connor Grillo gave 5 of 5 stars. The Solomon 120 HVs have the perfect stiffness, well within what I would expect for the advertised flex rating of 120. I had no qualms with how stiff the boot was. It allowed me to lay carves and initiate turns while knowing my ski would follow quickly and easily.

Heel Hold

4/5
Connor Grillo gave 4 of 5 stars. The way the engineers at Solomon designed this boot is amazing. Normally in a 102 last or high-volume boot, the heel pocket tends to be overly wide or not shaped quite right, but that's not an issue at all for these bad boys! The heel pocket was perfect and held me firmly in place and facilitated more confident skiing without moving around in the boot pocket.

Weight

4/5
Connor Grillo gave 4 of 5 stars. As the summary states these boots aren't the lightest down version one can find if weight is the main concern. For a hybrid touring setup for traversing far and going uphill, other boots might be lighter, but these will still handle 95% of use cases, especially for standard resort downhill conditions.

Waterproofing

5/5
Connor Grillo gave 5 of 5 stars. The Solomon boot lineup usually has great construction, and I've never once encountered a time where mine got wet and left my socks damp. These boots are no different — they seal up perfectly with little effort even at low buckle settings. Stay high and dry all day with no worries!

Durability

5/5
Connor Grillo gave 5 of 5 stars. The Solomon boot family is made out of the highest-quality materials by experienced workers with the utmost care. I've always felt that my Solomons held their shell and shape over the seasons. I've abused and ridden these boots hard time and time again, and they look almost as perfect as when I bought them.

Walk Mode

3/5
Connor Grillo gave 3 of 5 stars. Unfortunately the solomon 120 HV's with 102 last do not come standard with walk mode or apres mode. This is a somewhat regrettable thing but it does not detract from how comfortable and easy it is to walk around the base or lodge with these boots. They come with gripwalk tread that makes getting around even on slippery ice a breeze!

Responsiveness

5/5
Connor Grillo gave 5 of 5 stars. Anyone, from a beginner to an expert, will appreciate the stiffness and snug fit of the S/Pros and notice how much control the skis and binding provide. The 120 Flex is in such a magical sweet spot where the boots are comfortable to wear but easy to steer.

Versatility

5/5
Connor Grillo gave 5 of 5 stars. The Solomon S line has delivered some of the best all-mountain and versatile boots of all time. Whether hitting the terrain park or cruising through the glades, the S/Pros flourishes in all conditions and regions. Excellent insulation and GripWalk soles make this a safe, practical ski that doesn't cut corners on performance.

FAQs

What do you love about this product?

Connor Grillo Larger high-volume boots shouldn't be low flex or have less technology in the construction. These S/Pro 120 HVs come in a 102 last but have the same amazing input and direct feel as the original S/Pros. I love that no compromises have been made in the name of making the boot wider.

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Connor Grillo The Solomons left nothing to be desired and were an incredibly comfortable boot throughout my very long session, leaving me with no pain or discomfort. My favorite moment in these boots was when I was laying down some very fast carves and rapidly switching edges — in these aggressive moments the power delivery and snug fit of these boots really shone, and I felt more connected to my ski and binding than I have even in traditional non-HV boots.

Why did you choose this product?

Connor Grillo I chose the Solomon 120s because I have wider feet and am 6 feet tall. The 120 flex was great for my weight, right in between hard and soft for performance. They are a super-comfortable boot that can ski any conditions and won't slow me down or make turning harder.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Connor Grillo The Solomon S/Pro has great value for the money. Other 102 last HV boots can retail for $700-$800, but these can often be found for $550-$650. No other boot in the HV space delivers more bang for the buck.
