The Curated Take
5.0/5
The Mizuno OMOI Type I Putter is an excellent choice for golfers who prefer blade-shaped putters but desire the stability and feel of a mallet. Its compact design, combined with the 13-gram weights in the sole, provides a smooth swing that's easy to align. Its exceptional feel and natural positioning make it a great option for players at various skill levels. The putter's forgiving nature, combined with a unique blue finish, makes it stand out. However, it's priced higher than some alternatives, making it a premium choice for golfers who prioritize quality and distinctive design in their equipment.

Expert Reviews of the Mizuno OMOI Type I Putter
Calvin Max The Mizuno Omoi Type 1 will solve problems for a lot of people. Those, like myself, who prefer a blade-shaped putter and are willing to score worse to carry one. We would be better with mallets, and the game would be less frustrating. But no, we won’t be doing that, thank you very much. Enter the Type 1.
The first thing I noticed is that this putter is extremely short — not in shaft length, but in blade length. When I first saw it, I thought it would be light, but it's not at all. There are two 13-gram screw-in weights in the sole, which adds a ton of mass. Overall, the package swings more like a mallet than a blade.
The feel is better than any other putter I have ever tested, the stout package makes for easy alignment and natural positioning, and the whole of its forgiveness is far more than both the sum of its parts and its aggressive aesthetic.

Review Ratings
Alignment
5/5
Calvin Max gave 5 of 5 stars. If I wanted to manufacture a complaint about the alignment of this putter, I probably could. Maybe something about the shape. But I would be lying — this putter has the best out-of-the-box alignment I have ever seen. I couldn’t tell you what the people at Mizuno did to make this possible, but it’s incredible.
Feel
5/5
Calvin Max gave 5 of 5 stars. This putter feels almost like the best putter, and I don’t mean compared to other putters. It is just the best compared to itself. I am not someone who is a good putter, so I found this putter exceptionally good. Or, at the very least, much better than me.
Balance
5/5
Calvin Max gave 5 of 5 stars. This putter is toe balanced with a lot of stability on the takeaway. It is a blade for everyone without sacrificing the feel that better players require to putt their best.
Grip
5/5
Calvin Max gave 5 of 5 stars. As the grip market has become dominated by two primary types, it is encouraging to see companies take pride in their own grips and not just use aftermarket ones. I thought the group here was really tacky, meaning sticky to the touch, yet very classic and super-expensive looking.

What is the value for the money versus other options?
Calvin Max Despite being my favorite putter I have seen in a long time, the price point here is high.
