Expert Reviews of the Look Pivot 18 GW Ski Bindings
Colin Grey These bindings are the gold standard for durable freeride bindings with a high DIN range. The DIN is adjustable between 9 and 18, but the ideal is to be right in the middle of the range. If someone doesn't usually use a DIN setting of about 13 to 18, the Pivot 15 is likely a better choice. These bindings are very durable and have the most reliable release that I have found on any bindings. The CAST Freetour System can also make these bindings capable of touring, which is a game changer for those who want a robust touring binding that is better than any other touring binding on the downhill.

Release Reliability
5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. Look Pivots are renowned for their reliable release and consistent performance that skiers can count on. The toe and heel pieces rotate to keep my foot in the binding when needed, but the bindings will pop off consistently with the DIN setting if I crash. I have never had a problem with the pre-release of these bindings, even with some weird landings.
Durability
5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. These bindings are made almost entirely of metal, making them heavier than many other bindings, but also means they can take whatever I throw at them. Some plastic casing parts in the heel piece have cracked, but these parts do not impact the binding performance.
Versatility
5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. These bindings can confidently handle any terrain and type of skiing one wants to do. These are freestyle bindings at heart, but the addition of the CAST Freetour System can turn these into a backcountry machine. This modification enables skiers to swap the toe piece of the Pivots for a tech toe so they can tour with ease.
Power Transfer
5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. The Pivots have swappable AFD pieces for the toe rather than an adjustable height plate. So the toe height won’t change when I don’t want it to, and my boot will be planted on the ski. This makes for confident power transfer throughout an entire turn, jump, and landing.
