The Curated Take
4.2/5
The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Single Iron is ideal for golfers seeking forgiveness and distance. This iron is particularly suited for beginners and intermediates because its larger clubhead offers a higher launch and more forgiveness, making it easier to hit. The placement of tungsten weighting around the perimeter enhances stability. While it lacks workability for shaping shots, its design prioritizes forgiveness over precision control. The iron also impresses with its sound and feel, providing positive feedback despite being a cast iron. Overall, it's a great option for players who want a forgiving iron without resorting to a hybrid.

Expert Reviews of the Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Single Iron
Jonathan Belanger The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Single Iron is one of the more forgiving irons on the market. It is the larger version of the Rouge ST Max irons and has few benefits. By having a larger footprint, the weight is positioned more along the perimeter to promote a higher launching and more forgiving design. The sound and feel are quite impressive for a game improvement iron, but I am not a huge fan of the included standard grip; however, that is an easy fix. This iron could be more workable, but that is by design. The purpose is to be forgiving. Overall, if someone is looking for a forgiving iron that makes golf fun without looking like they have 14 hybrids in their bag, this is a great option.

Review Ratings
Forgiveness
5/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 5 of 5 stars. Compared to the other Rogue ST irons in the lineup, I found this to be the most forgiving. The oversized design of the clubhead, combined with the placement of the tungsten weighting around the perimeter, provides plenty of stability and forgiveness across the entire clubface. Off-center shots aren’t punished, and the wide sole helps on shots where I hit a little behind the ball.
Feel
4/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 4 of 5 stars. This isn't a forged iron, and it doesn't feel like it. However, given its purpose, I am pleasantly surprised with the feedback I receive on strike location and how good center strikes feel. I was expecting a clubhead that felt dull because of its large size, but that isn’t the case.
Workability
3/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 3 of 5 stars. It isn't really workable. Yes, it is still possible to hit shapes, but distance, shape, and trajectory can be a little hard to control because of the larger clubhead and more forgiving nature. I have to exaggerate a little more to get the desired shape, and distance control is hard when trying to hit anything less than a full shot.
Distance
5/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 5 of 5 stars. The Rogue ST Max OS iron has a larger sweet spot, which means golfers will hit the preferred location more often and will, in turn, hit the ball further. Combining a larger clubhead with a lower center of gravity and stronger lofts creates a framework that allows the ball to have a higher launch with less spin and generate more distance.
Sound
4/5
Jonathan Belanger gave 4 of 5 stars. For a cast iron made with forgiveness and distance at the forefront, I’m blown away by how this sounds. There’s a satisfying crack from just about anywhere on the face. For the more traditional golfer looking for a more muted, forged blade sound, this won’t provide that.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Jonathan Belanger I love how forgiving the club is. The larger footprint provides a larger sweet spot for more forgiveness and more consistency.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Jonathan Belanger My favorite shot was using the 6-iron to get out of trouble. I hit my tee shot into the tree line and had a second shot with many branches and overhang to deal with. I pulled out the 6-iron, put the ball in the back of my stance, and flushed a low bullet that chased to the front of the green.
