A lot of golfers spend most of their time on drivers, irons, or wedges but completely neglect their shoes. But in reality, the right pair of shoes can make a big difference in your golf game, while the wrong pair can lead to blisters and negatively impact your swing (and likely score).

Best Golf Shoes With Spikes

When it comes to buying golf shoes, we’ve come a long way from metal spikes and saddle-style shoes. I’ve been playing this amazing game since the late 1990s and vividly remember the sound of metal cleats clanking around the course. Sadly, these types of shoes aren’t allowed anymore as they ruined the golf course conditions, but they did provide great grip.

Now golfers can choose from spiked or spikeless golf shoes. Spiked shoes are a better option for winter golf, as they provide a lot more traction, while spikeless shoes are a better choice for warmer weather when the course has less moisture.

Spiked shoes are also a better choice if you have a lot of lower body movement in your swing. They can make it easier to keep your lower body in check during the swing for more consistency (as there’s nothing worse than slipping on your downswing).

Personally, I only wear spiked shoes unless I’m practicing indoors at a simulator. I find my golf swing has more consistency when I'm not worried about my lower body potentially slipping on the downswing.

1. Puma Ignite Articulate Golf Shoes

Puma is a respected brand in the golf apparel industry and offers shirts, pants, shorts (which are my favorite), and shoes. They have a huge selection of golf shoes and tend to have a more casual style than other brands.

The Puma Ignite Articulate shoes are a perfect mix of comfort with style. They have an athletic type of look with a strong, lightweight saddle that is somewhat iconic in the golf world. The grooves of the shoes are strategically placed in the outsole, midsole, and upper sole to flex and still offer plenty of support. These shoes come with eight spikes per shoe, which is more than most, and will provide plenty of traction as you swing.

They also have IGNITE foam, which provides energy return (which helps use the ground more efficiently) and offers extreme comfort. They’re also waterproof, so they’ll hold up in wet, winter golf conditions. And they’re available in a variety of colors for all types of styles and playing conditions.

I’ve had the black/white model in the past and was amazed at how long they lasted. These Puma golf shoes are a moderate price, built to last, and provide incredible traction.

2. Skechers Go Golf Torque Shoes

After wearing all types of shoes over the years, from Nike, Puma, Adidas, Callaway, FootJoy, and Skechers, I have to say Skechers offers the most comfort. Anytime I have to walk 18 holes, especially in the brutal Arizona heat, I typically wear a pair of Skechers. This pair or the Skechers Go Golf Pro are both insanely comfortable and make six-plus miles easy on the feet.

The Skechers Torque shoes have a very simple design, like most from this brand. They seem to focus more on simple styles than ones with bright colors and flare like a lot of other brands.

This pair of golf shoes wears like a pair of sneakers but has a little bit more of a traditional look. They do not have laces, instead offering a dial/ratchet system for a snug fit without the hassle of tying shoes.

Like all Skechers shoes, these are insanely comfortable thanks to the Goga Max insole. These have a high rebound foam footbed that feels like you’re on a soft, comfortable yoga mat.

Additionally, these shoes are not only comfortable but waterproof despite their lightweight, breathable design. They also have replaceable soft spikes and are available in white or black in medium or wide options.

3. Under Armour Men’s Charged Draw 2 Wide Shoes

If you want to wear the same brand of golf shoes as Jordan Speith, these are an ideal choice. Jordan has been with Under Armour for years and is arguably their biggest sponsored professional golfer. I love Under Armour shoes for casual use and the gym but have worn a few pairs in the past for golf too.

The Under Armour Charged Draw 2 is a wide pair of golf shoes that give your feet a little more wiggle room. They have an athletic look but offer plenty of stability as you swing.

The microfiber leather is lightweight but durable. What’s great about these shoes is the Charged Cushioning, which makes them some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever tried out. Their Ortholite sockliner adds breathability and additional comfort too.

They also offer NeverWet treatment, so they can keep your feet dry even if you’re battling the conditions. They have UA Rotational Resistance spikes for better horizontal traction to keep your lower body moving well in the swing.

These lightweight, durable golf shoes are available in all white, all black, or a gray/navy design.

4. FootJoy Hyper Flex BoA

FootJoy is another top name in the golf world as they have solid arch support, a mix of athletic and traditional styles, and offer plenty of comfort. The Hyper Flex BOA is one of the most popular in the FootJoy lineup and one I've bought in the past.

These shoes are not cheap (nearly $200) but extremely comfortable and designed for the modern golf athlete. They fit my feet perfectly and I loved how snug they were while still letting me generate plenty of power in my swing.

They have a two-year waterproof warranty as well. The FootJoy Tour Alpha is another popular pair for golfers worth considering.

5. Asics Gel Course Duo BOA Golf Shoes

Asics doesn't make a ton of golf equipment, but these shoes are quite popular. I liked how easy they were to lace up with the BOA lacing system and felt good about the comfort. However, I wasn’t a big fan of the style, which is why I ended up choosing an alternative. If you like the style or don’t want a traditional-looking golf shoe, these have plenty of support and offer an external heel counter. This adds more stability as you transfer your weight on the downswing and allows you to focus on your golf swing, not your shoes.

Additionally, these Asics golf shoes have FLYTEFOAM technology, which lightens the weight of the midsole. These are a lightweight pair that is a solid choice if you’re someone who likes to walk versus ride in a golf cart. They’re also available in five colors to match all your favorite outfits.

6. Ecco Golf Bio Tour Lace Shoes

If you want a premium golf shoe and don’t have a strict budget of $100 or less, the Ecco Bio Tour is a great option. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, but they have a stellar reputation for making high-quality, comfortable shoes.

These shoes provide a snug fit and offer low-to-the-ground construction for maximum stability as you swing. They have tons of support because of the eight well-placed spikes. Like some other pairs on this list, they also have a traditional laces system versus a ratchet system.

The leather design gives them a contemporary look and has a waterproof membrane. This will help keep your feet dry in even the wetter weather conditions. The all-black pair is ideal for winter golf, matches every outfit, and is easy to clean even if you’re playing in the rain or muddy conditions.
