The Curated Take
4.4/5
The TaylorMade Stealth Driver, with its innovative carbon face, is ideal for golfers seeking to maximize distance and improve consistency in their drives. Its 60-layer carbon construction offers durability for high swing speeds, combined with twist-face technology to provide forgiveness on mishits. This driver is especially beneficial for players looking to straighten out their drives and minimize unwanted curves. However, it may not be suitable for players requiring significant shot shaping or those with lower swing speeds requiring more spin. Overall, it's a top choice for advanced golfers who prioritize distance and straighter shots over workability.
Ideal for
- Fast face maximizes distance
- Very forgiving on small mishits
- Can improve consistency not just with direction but distance as well
Not ideal for
- New carbon face may have durability issues
- Minimal shot shaping capability
- May not generate enough spin for players who do not have high swing speeds

Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade Stealth Driver
Joey Geary The TaylorMade Stealth Driver is the first golf club to have a carbon face. It has 60 layers of carbon to withstand high swing speeds over a long period of time. I have owned this club for a year and a half now, with swing speed averages around 110mph, and there are no signs of any damage to the face so far. Just like the previous models, the Stealth driver has twist-face technology embedded into the carbon face, minimizing dispersions on off-center hits. When conducting an experiment with my previous TaylorMade driver, the ball speed was noticeably higher at a 99% significance level. This specific model is the ideal club for players looking to straighten out their drives and minimize draws and fades. This technology does, however, prevent the ability of high-level players to shape their shots. There is another model that provides a more shot-shaping capability called the Stealth Plus+, but it does not have the same level of forgiveness that the original Stealth driver has. Nevertheless, the Stealth driver is an excellent club for players looking to straighten out their fades and hit monster drives.

5/5
Joey Geary gave 5 of 5 stars. The Stealth driver is incredibly straight. With the new 60-layer carbon face combined with twist face technology, TaylorMade drivers have never been straighter. It is a fairly low spinning club, which helps minimize side spin, thus decreasing the amount of curve on the golf ball in the air. Off-center strikes also maintain their distance, whether on the toe or heel. When I am looking for a club, as a right-handed player, my focus is the right miss because carry usually decreases the further right I hit it. With this club, there is minimal right miss, and the ball goes just as far as a center strike. What TaylorMade has done with this club is very impressive.
Feel
4/5
Joey Geary gave 4 of 5 stars. As a golfer who plays or practices at least four times per week, I was worried about how the driver would feel compared to metal woods. I figured it would be much softer, which is not what I generally prefer when hitting a driver. Surprisingly, the ball jumped off the face, and I felt the power behind it. However, this driver has a different feel compared to others, but I almost prefer it. The softer feel may be a drawback to some, but the results bear gifts.
Workability
4/5
Joey Geary gave 4 of 5 stars. The Stealth driver is a good club for players looking to get rid of the slice. The technology behind it promotes straighter ball flights with less side spin. This club may not be the right one for players who like to hit both draws and fades. Nevertheless, if I had to choose what shot shape to hit for every tee shot, a straight one would be my choice 10 times out of 10.
Sound
4/5
Joey Geary gave 4 of 5 stars. Similar to the driver's feel, the Stealth differs from metal woods. This club is much quieter due to its deeper noise when in contact with the ball. Depending on the player, some prefer it and others prefer metal woods. I personally like it. TaylorMade has always had a different sound than other clubs, and I find it unique.
Distance
5/5
Joey Geary gave 5 of 5 stars. This is it if someone is looking for a club that provides the most distance. This Stealth driver has the hottest face on the market. Combined with the low spin, high launch, and a carbon face, no other driver can compete with it. Increased distance does not just stop at center strikes but is also clearly seen in mishits. There is no greater joy than when I hit the ball on the heel and still outdrive my playing partner.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Joey Geary My favorite moment with this club was my bogey-free 66, which I shot in the qualifier for the AZ Open. Qualifiers can be very stressful rounds because, unlike tournaments, they are only 18 holes as opposed to 54 or 72. This means that positioning myself off the tee is critical for minimizing stress. That day, I hit every fairway except for one, which ended up just in the first cut, leaving me with a good angle into the pin. I had never felt more relaxed and in control during a qualifier in my life. There is no better feeling than stepping onto the tee and already preparing for a good look at birdie.
Why did you choose this product?
Joey Geary I have recently been a TaylorMade player due to the level of technology that they provide with all their clubs, but this driver stood out to me from day one with the carbon face. I knew I had to see if all the hype surrounding it was real. This change from metal woods intrigued me, so I tried it out. Not only did the ball go further, but the shot dispersion was much smaller, and even shots that were hit lower on the face went a surprisingly far distance. The carbon face proved itself to me, and I have been with it ever since.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Joey Geary The TaylorMade Stealth Driver is set at a slightly higher price point than other competitors but comes with results that are hard to ignore. Distance and dispersion are the most important variables when comparing drivers, and this one has what it takes to be worth the extra money.
