The Curated Take

4.5/5

The Salomon Strive 14 GW Ski Bindings are an excellent choice for skiers seeking an affordable, high-DIN (14) binding. They offer reliable release, great power transfer from boot to ski, and are easy to use. These bindings are compatible with a wide range of boots and skis, including those with GripWalk soles. While their mostly plastic construction might raise some concerns about durability, they have proven to be robust and reliable after extensive use. Ideal for skiers who want a higher DIN binding without breaking the bank, these bindings are a practical choice for both resort and powder skiing.

Expert Reviews of the Salomon Strive 14 GW Ski Bindings

Colin Grey These bindings are one of the most affordable options out there for a 14 DIN or higher binding. I bought these for my Salomon QST 106 and have gotten to use them for about 40 days of skiing and have had no problems with them. The power transfer is great, and they are easy to get in and out of. The release is reliable, and I have had no problems with pre-release. My one concern going in was that the plastic construction of these bindings might lead to some durability issues, but I have had no problem with them so far.

Review Ratings

Release Reliability

5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. These bindings perform at their set DIN value, and I have not experienced any problems with their release. I have had one crash where I expected my skis to pop off, and they did when they should have. I have had some smaller falls where my skis stayed on my feet when I wanted them to.

Durability

4/5
Colin Grey gave 4 of 5 stars. These bindings have held up well after about 30 days of use last season, and I have no real concerns with these breaking. These bindings are made with more plastic than Look Pivots, so they may not last quite as long, but so far, I have had no issues.

Versatility

4/5
Colin Grey gave 4 of 5 stars. The many different brake widths available for these bindings make it a versatile option across the spectrum of ski widths. These bindings are compatible with GripWalk soles, the new standard for ski boot soles.

Power Transfer

5/5
Colin Grey gave 5 of 5 stars. The best compliment I can give a resort binding is that I do not have to think about it, and the Salomon Strive fits that bill. They transfer power from boot to ski without any flex, and the boot-to-binding contact is good. The power transfer is comparable to a binding like the Marker Griffon or Look Pivot 14.
