The Curated Take

4.7/5

The Airblaster Beast 3L Jacket is ideal for highly active outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable waterproofing. It excels in wet conditions and offers a relaxed fit for layering underneath. The jacket features three-layer fully seam-sealed construction and YKK Aquaguard zippers for excellent waterproofing. While it may feel slightly rigid, it provides durability, resisting tears even during rugged activities. The extra-long wrist cuffs work well with gloves but may not accommodate mitts designed to go over the jacket. Overall, this jacket is a lightweight, waterproof, and breathable choice for those seeking protection and style in various outdoor settings.

Expert Reviews of the Airblaster Beast 3L Jacket

Jason R This is my go-to jacket for highly active days in the mountains. Whether conditions outside the jacket involve precipitation or the conditions inside the jacket include perspiration, the Airblaster Beast 3L Jacket will keep one dry. Extra long wrist cuffs work wonderfully for going over gloves or mitts, yet they are not ideal for mitts with cuffs designed to go over the jacket. Colorways range from flashy to classy but are fun all the same.

5/5
Jason R gave 5 of 5 stars. The best colorway is the "Purple Shimmer," an absolute crowd-pleaser and personal favorite. The Airblaster Beast 3L Jacket is offered in colors from "quiet" to "loud" and all volume levels in between, so whether someone is low-key or the life of the party, there is a tone to match their tune. The jacket comes tailored in the "Blaster Active" fit, which offers a relaxed full coverage fit while being 1" shorter in the front of the jacket for increased mobility.

Waterproofing

5/5
Jason R gave 5 of 5 stars. Nothing stays 100% dry when someone is snowboarding in the pouring rain at 34°, so, personally, I like to have an extra set of outerwear and underlayers in the vehicle at all times. However, this jacket has kept me as dry or more dry than any other jacket that I have owned. Three-layer fully seam-sealed construction and the YKK Aquaguard zippers keep things dryer longer.

Durability

5/5
Jason R gave 5 of 5 stars. I've spent plenty of days riding through tight trees like they're race gates and have never ripped a hole in this jacket. Long days using the snowmobiles to access snowboard terrain is notoriously hard on gear, and I have yet to have so much as a fray on either of mine. I'm also pretty bad at taking care of my gear and just throw it around haphazardly. I even left it outside for a solid month this summer, and it still looks brand new.

Comfort

4/5
Jason R gave 4 of 5 stars. The fit is great for me, and it is a little stiff compared to the Airblaster Beast 2L and not quite as comfortable, but I feel it does provide better waterproofing, so it's worth the sacrifice. The biggest downside for me is that the extra length in the cuffs does not accommodate gloves or mitts with cuffs designed to go over a jacket's sleeves.

Warmth

4/5
Jason R gave 4 of 5 stars. The jacket is not designed to be warm, but it keeps me dry, so in that regard, it does its job well. The relaxed fit allows plenty of layering underneath and puts me in charge of regulating my body temperature. A few layers, including a hooded puffy jacket, fit well under my shell and keep me warm and happy.

Breathability

5/5
Jason R gave 5 of 5 stars. The fabric seems very breathable and lives up to its 20K g/m² breathability rating. On top of that, if I ever overheat inside the jacket, there are zippered underarm vents. And two huge mesh-lined chest pockets work excellently for additional ventilation.
