In this comparison, we are looking at two fairway woods: the TaylorMade M4 and the Srixon Men's ZX. Both clubs are designed to offer golfers a combination of distance, forgiveness, and launch. The TaylorMade M4 is praised for its forgiveness and high launch, making it a great choice for beginners and mid-level players. On the other hand, the Srixon Men's ZX is known for its workability and low spin, making it a good fit for mid-handicappers. While both clubs have their strengths, the choice between the two will largely depend on the golfer's skill level and specific needs on the course.

TaylorMade M4 Fairway Wood summary

The TaylorMade M4 Fairway Wood is a popular choice among golfers of all skill levels. It is particularly known for its forgiving nature, making it a great option for those who are still honing their skills. The M4 is designed to offer a high launch, which can help golfers achieve extra carry distance. This makes it an excellent choice for those who are looking to add some length to their game.

One of the standout features of the M4 is its expansive sweet spot, which is made possible by the club's geocoustic technology and internal split weights. This design not only enhances the club's forgiveness but also provides golfers with great feel and sound. The M4 is also versatile, capable of being used off the tee and the fairway, making it a valuable addition to any golfer's bag.

However, the M4 is not without its drawbacks. Due to its perimeter-weighted design, it is not as easy to shape shots with this club. This means that it may not be the best choice for golfers who like to play with a lot of curves and angles.

I can honestly say the M4 fairway wood is my favorite fairway wood that I have ever owned. It is exceptionally long, crazy forgiving, and just looks and feels great to me. I very much like the way the grey crown on top frames the ball at address. If you are looking to work the ball there are other models that are better for you. If you are looking for a consistently straight ball flight the M4 is as good as it gets in my opinion.

Srixon Men's ZX Fairway Wood summary

The Srixon Men's ZX Fairway Wood is another excellent option for golfers, particularly those with a mid-handicap. This club is designed to offer great forgiveness off the tee and fairway, making it a reliable choice for attacking par 5s. The ZX also boasts great distance off the tee and a higher launch for more control, making it a versatile club that can improve both tee and fairway game.

One of the key features of the ZX is its Rebound Frame, a unique structure that focuses more energy into the golf ball, increasing ball speed and distance on every shot. The club also features a Cannon Sole, a forward-leaning weight pad and flexible sole that work together to maximize ball speed and optimize launch.

However, while the ZX is a powerful club, it is not the most workable wood on the market. This means that it may not be the best choice for golfers who like to shape their shots.

After testing and purchasing the ZX5 irons, I was excited to fill the rest of my bag with other Srixon products. The Srixon ZX fairways felt very comfortable at address with the neutral club face. ZX Fairway wood has great feedback when making contact with the ball and a good portion of my shots have a high launch with great carry distance. Its also great for shaping shots but not very forgiving on mishits.
