Photo by Centre for Ageing Better
Do you want to save money and buy your golf equipment together instead of buying each type of club individually? If so, you’re in the right place.
As someone who has spent a small fortune on golf clubs in my 25 years of playing golf, I fully understand. Between clubs, tee times, lessons, balls, and other equipment, golf can add up quickly.
Luckily, some of the top manufacturers in the game make complete sets. These typically include 8-11 clubs, a bag, and headcovers to help you get started playing this amazing game. More and more sets also have additional options with different shaft flexes and lengths to fit every type of golfer. Keep reading to learn more about these complete sets for beginners and intermediate golfers. Best Golf Club Sets on a Budget
Golf club sets are typically made for mid- to high-handicap golfers. This is because as you become more advanced and swing the club faster, you’ll need to buy clubs individually to match your swing. Otherwise, you’ll likely make a tough game even more challenging.
However, sets are a fantastic option for beginners who are just getting started and don’t want to deal with the overwhelm that comes from buying different equipment. Let’s start with some of the best complete golf club sets for beginners, then we’ll work our way to sets for intermediate golfers.
1. MacGregor Golf CG3000 Set
If you’re just getting started in golf and/or on a tight budget, this MacGregor golf set is a solid choice. It’s a little over $300, which is a steal considering it comes with nine clubs and a stand bag.
They’re available for right- and left-handed golfers in regular or stiff flex. Additionally, you can choose standard length, one degree short, or one degree long, which is rare, especially considering the low price tag.
The set is composed of a driver, fairway wood, hybrid, 6- through 9-irons, pitching wedge, and tour mallet putter. It also comes with matching headcovers for the woods and hybrids. Unfortunately, no sand wedge, which will make getting out of bunkers very hard, so I'd suggest adding your own if you go this route.
The driver is a 13-degree loft, which is ideal for beginners with less-than-average swing speeds. More loft will help get the ball in the air easier and improve total distance. The hybrids and irons are extremely forgiving, even if you get them off the toe or heel.
The putter is easy to align and has a mallet design, which is a perfect option for newer golfers as it’s more forgiving. So if you mishit a putt, it’ll still end up closer to the hole and hopefully fewer than three putts.

2. Callaway Strata 2019 Complete Set
Callaway is one of my favorite golf brands, as I’ve used different pieces of their equipment for more than two decades. In high school I played the Callaway Warbird, then the Great Big Bertha. In recent years I’ve used their irons and also love their latest Paradym Triple Diamond driver.
However, even if you’re just starting out, they have solid options for beginners. The Strata 2019 is a set I helped a friend, who is just getting started and wanted his own gear, pick out.
This set has a driver, 3-wood, 5-hybrid, 6-PW, and putter, not to mention a golf bag and headcovers too.
These are the bare essentials that you need to get started, and at that price, it’s less than the cost of most modern drivers. The titanium driver is very forgiving with an oversized sweet spot, while the hybrids and irons are forgiving with mishits and high launching.
Or, if you want a few more clubs in your set, the Callaway Strata Plus 2019 is a better option. This comes with two more clubs with graphite shafts in the wood/hybrid and steel shafts in the irons. Connect with a Curated Golf Expert for advice on which complete set would suit you best.

3. Wilson Profile SGI Complete Set
Wilson is known for making solid clubs for beginners, and this SGI really fits the bill. The set is available in right- or left-hand models, but unfortunately only comes with one shaft flex option (regular flex).
You do have the option for standard or one inch longer if you’re a taller golfer who needs slightly longer clubs. But if you’re a senior golfer who needs less flex and/or a shorter golfer who might need shafts one inch shorter, these aren’t the best options.
However, if you’re a golfer of average height with moderate swing speed, they are an incredible deal. They include a driver, 5-wood, 5 hybrid, 6- through 9-irons, PW, SW, and putter, plus matching headcovers and a carry bag, which I feel is much more convenient than a cart bag.
Every one of these clubs is engineered for one thing: forgiveness. They have a large sweet spot, easy-to-hit clubheads, and lightweight shafts.

4. Stix Golf Perform Series 11-Piece Club Set
Stix is a newer brand in the golf world. Unlike others on this list, they do not sell clubs individually and only offer sets.
This 11-piece set includes a driver, 5-wood, 4-hybrid, 5- through 9-iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and mallet-style putter. To me, these are the main clubs that beginners need (except maybe a 5-iron, as they’re somewhat hard to hit). These clubs are available for both men and women, with different length options too.
Overall, these clubs do not look like a beginner or even intermediate set. They have a classic look, stunning black finish, and minimalist design. It’s common for beginner clubs to be a bit clunky and large in design, but that is not the case with Stix.
If you want more clubs in your set, check out the Stix 14-Piece Golf Club Set. These clubs made my list of Best Club Sets for Intermediate Golfers, as I love the design and clubs included.

5. Callaway XR Package Complete Golf Set
This is a premium set that costs significantly more than most on this list. However, it is a solid choice for intermediate golfers with a bigger budget who want more premium clubs.
This set is available in right- or left-hand models with three flex options: senior, regular, and stiff. Plus, you can also choose to get these in a plus-one-inch shaft length, which is extremely rare when it comes to buying complete sets.
This set comes with a driver, 3-wood, 4/5-hybrid, 6- through 9-iron, PW, gap wedge (AW), SW, and putter. The only problem is that it doesn't come with a 3- or 5-wood, which is surprising. Luckily, it does come with an AW, which will help with a lot of short-game shots.
All the clubs are extremely lightweight and forgiving. But what makes them worth the higher price tag is the premium shafts that are much better than most full club sets. These will help improve ball speeds and make launching any club very easy.
Plus, I think this set has the best putter of any on this list. It comes with an Odyssey DFX putter that makes lining up putts easy. This is a premium putter, which is very rare when buying complete sets, as most are a generic design.

6. TaylorMade RBZ SpeedLite 13-Piece Set
TaylorMade makes some incredible equipment for all types of golfers. Whether you’re a beginner who is just starting out or Tiger Woods (he has his own TW iron sets), they have an option for you.
I’m a massive fan of the TaylorMade RBZ Speedlite — they have everything you need if you’re an intermediate golfer. Everything about this bag looks premium, even though it’s very reasonably priced.
This set, which is available for right- or left-handed golfers, comes with a driver, 3/5-wood, 4/5-hybrids, 6- through 9-iron, PW, SW, and putter. The only club you might consider adding in the future is a gap wedge or lob wedge. Otherwise, this set has everything you need to play solid golf.
The driver is very lightweight with a 50-gram shaft and low center of gravity to boost launch for longer tee shots. The fairway woods are the “Rocketballz” series, which are a favorite among amateur golfers because of their hot face, which leads to longer distance.
While the irons have perimeter weighting and high launch to land on greens softly. The wedges are also great for full shots and around the green. The bag, clubheads, shafts, and head covers all are matching black, gray, and green designs which look amazing.

Golf club sets make it a lot easier to buy equipment without having to research each club individually. These new sets of golf clubs are ideal for beginner golfers who want to get started and save money as well.
Intermediate golfers with a higher budget also have the option for complete sets. These tend to include 2-4 more clubs (10-11 total) and ones with a slightly less forgiving design for more skilled players. Lower-handicap golfers should stay away from these sets and focus on buying clubs individually for optimal performance.
