TR;DR: If you have above-average-sized feet, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, I’ll be showcasing the best wide snowboards in the industry right now. While some are naturally wide snowboards or “volume shifted,” others have wide editions for riders such as yourself.

What is Volume-Shifted?

“Simply put, a volume-shifted snowboard has a large waist width and is meant to be ridden 3-6 cm shorter than your normal snowboard size. Volume-shifted boards possess the same surface area (volume) as a longer board and, therefore, have the same advantages. However, since the surface area is displaced—or shifted—to the width of the board, a rider can use a version that is less lengthy, simultaneously giving them the advantages of a short snowboard!”

Snowboarding is for everyone, including those with feet on the larger side. Thankfully, many snowboarding brands have considered this, and have designed boards that fit large feet. I am a former snowboard instructor, and I now work in the outdoor industry, helping riders such as yourself find the perfect gear for their unique needs. I wear a size 10 snowboard boot, right on the cusp between medium and large.

When it comes to snowboard width, it is almost always directly correlated to shoe size. I wear a size 10 shoe, which means I need to ride a board that is at least 250mm wide. Before we get into the specific boards, here is a chart that might help you get a sense of what snowboard width is best for you, based on your shoe size:

The 8 Best Wide Snowboards for Big Feet

Now that we have your shoe size in mind, let’s get into some snowboards that might fit your preferences. And remember: you’ll need to find a snowboard that fits the minimum width according to your shoe size. Luckily, most of the boards below range in both length AND width.

1. 2024 Lib Tech Skunk Ape II 157: 268mm width

The 2024 Lib Tech Skunk Ape II is one of the best wide snowboards on the market. This is a men’s snowboard: Its shortest length is 157 cm, and its longest length is 173 cm. This board is for the big boys.

This is an all-mountain snowboard, with a hybrid-camber profile. With tons of versatility for such a large board, the rocker between the feet makes for easy turns and awesome carves on groomers. Although this board is particularly stiff, it offers riders surprising maneuverability, especially for its large size.

You can read a full Curated Expert Review by Yuri Czmola here.

Benefits:

  • A great do-it-all all-mountain snowboard for intermediate to advanced riders
  • Hybrid camber offers awesome carving abilities

Keep in Mind:

  • Not a great park board

2. 2024 Ride Warpig 154: 277mm width

This is one of those “volume-shifted” snowboards that offers riders an awesome ride, while being a little shorter in length. Sizes range from 142 cm to 158 cm in length (and will accommodate larger riders).

The Warpig is a unisex snowboard, ideal for the versatile rider. Its directional shape, hybrid-camber profile, and medium-flex feel make this an amazing all-mountain snowboard with just enough playfulness.

Intermediate and advanced riders will love what this board has to offer. You can read the full expert review by Ethan Naughton here.

As a true all-mountain snowboard, riders will feel confident enough to surf some pow and able enough to hit some jumps.

Benefits:

  • Volume shifting allows for enhanced playfulness
  • It’s unisex!

Keep in Mind:

  • The increased width from edge to edge makes getting from edge to edge a little bit more difficult

3. 2024 Bataleon Cruiser 159: 265mm width

This board was made for the powder hounds. Its responsiveness is unmatched for a relatively lightweight board, and its float is sublime.

This directional snowboard was designed to be an all-mountain pow board. Its wide nose is perfect for slicing through thick powder, and its traditional camber profile gives it the versatility it needs elsewhere. While the board’s waist width might be a little slim for some riders with larger feet, it should be just large enough for most. This medium flex board is great for intermediate and advanced riders.

Benefits:

  • Outstanding float in deep powder
  • Lightweight and maneuverable

Keep in Mind:

  • Not great on groomers

4. K2 Party Platter 157: 279mm width

This K2 Party Platter is yet another volume-shifted snowboard, which means it’s not as long as most other snowboards. The Party Platter is a beefy boy, and is sure to make room for the largest of feet. This board is unisex and ranges from 138 cm to 157 cm.

This is an intermediate/advanced board, perfect for deep carves in the powder or catching big air in the park. For a board that might seem short to some, it gets great float in deep powder. Its rocker/camber/rocker profile gives the board an awesome combination of maneuverability and playfulness. For a directional, all-mountain snowboard, this board does exceptionally well in powder, on groomers, in the trees, and in the park.

Benefits:

  • A true all-mountain snowboard
  • An ideal board for freestyle snowboarding

Keep in Mind:

  • The board’s width makes it not as nimble as some other boards out there

5. 2024 Gnu Rider’s Choice 158W: 268mm width

The “W” stands for wide, and this board is a great “one board quiver”—a board for those who only want to own one piece of gear that can do it all.

This is an all-mountain freestyle board for those who want to do a little bit of everything. Plus, its magna-traction helps the board cut into hard snow and ice, like a serrated blade.

The Rider’s Choice is a medium-flex, asymmetrical board designed for seasoned riders looking for a board with durability. While this board might be a bit on the heavy side, it can do just about everything you can think of. From floating well in pow to getting great pop on jumps, the Rider’s Choice lives up to its name. Sizes range from 151.5 cm to 162W cm.

Benefits:

  • Very playful
  • Very stable

Keep in Mind:

  • Might be too heavy for some riders

6. 2024 Burton Custom Flying V Snowboard 158W: 162mm width

The Burton Custom Flying V is one of the most popular snowboards on the market. While the 158W might not be the right fit for those with size 13+ shoes, it’ll make an awesome option for those sizes 12 and below. The Custom Flying V is an all-mountain, freeride snowboard that ranges from 150 cm to 166W cm.

This is a great board for those looking to make some progress over a few seasons. It’s perfect to learn new tricks on, improve carving, and enhance feel.

The Custom Flying V is a directional twin with a very unique profile (Roc/Cam/Roc/Cam/Roc). This unique camber profile gives riders the ultimate fusion of carving and jumping ability.

Benefits:

  • An all-mountain beast
  • Great float in powder

Keep in Mind:

  • Not ideal for those with exceptionally large feet

7. 2024 CAPITA DOA W 159W: 261mm width

The Capita DOA (Defenders of Awesome) is a really cool board. There isn’t another one on the market that can do what this board does. That said, it is not a super wide board. While it does come in a wider board option, it doesn’t get wide enough for those with 13+ size shoes.

This is an all-mountain, freestyle snowboard. Its playfulness is hard to match, and its pop is insane. The board has a rocker/camber/rocker profile and is designed for intermediate and advanced riders.

Benefits:

  • Incredible pop
  • Great in the terrain park

Keep in Mind

  • Lacks float in deep pow
  • Not that wide

8. 2024 Jones Flagship 159W: 263mm width

Last but not least, the Jones Flagship. This is another very popular freeride board with a wide option. This board is designed for advanced and expert riders. It is a directional board with a hybrid camber profile to give it some much-needed versatility. With excellent float and amazing edge drip, this board makes sure riders can rip through deep powder.

If you’ve got big feet and a taste for the extreme, this board is for you.

Benefits:

  • High-speed stability
  • A great backcountry, off-piste snowboard

Keep in Mind:

  • Not ideal for freestyle riding
