Expert Reviews of the Burton Ion BOA Snowboard Boots

Leonid Cha The BOA lacing system on these boots is outstanding compared to others I've used. A superior part of the liner is a closure system that molds to the shin. It's also heat-moldable. The cinch system is a typical Burton feature, and their boots are noted for stiffness, resulting in incredible responsiveness and board feel. The traction on the bottom is excellent, and the heel hold is second to none—the best lock-in I have ever experienced. But after about eight days of use, they developed some minor markings, especially around the hard plastic toe box, which is very stiff. As for comfort, there is still some break-in pain. But that's to be expected usually.

Leonid Cha gave 2 of 5 stars. These were uncomfortable when I wore them for the first few times. It felt like they squeezed my feet. They needed time to break in. It's like they're slowly getting used to my feet, but it takes quite a few snowboarding trips before they start to feel comfortable. I'm not too fond that it takes a lot of time, so I give this category two stars.

FAQs

What do you love about this product?

Leonid Cha I love how strong and safe they are. They're really comfy now I've broken them in, and they keep my feet warm and dry, even in lots of snow. They're great for doing big jumps and fast rides down the mountain.

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Leonid Cha One time, when I was snowboarding, my boots saved me. I accidentally hit a very sharp stick, but my boots were so strong that the stick didn't go through. It was like having superhero boots that kept my feet safe. I was so happy and kept snowboarding all day without getting hurt. They're worth every cent.

Why did you choose this product?

Leonid Cha I picked these boots because they're great for doing big jumps and going fast on my snowboard. It has a cool, strong toe part and grips the ground really well, so I don't slip.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Leonid Cha The Burton Ions cost a lot, but they're excellent compared to other boots that cost less. Boots like the DC Travis Rice or the Vans Infuse are cheaper but don't have the same cool stuff. The Ions have special laces that make them fit well and a strong toe part that's good for hiking. Other boots might be good, too, but the Ion is special because it's comfy, keeps my feet warm, and helps me do great things on my snowboard. So, the Ions are worth the money if someone likes snowboarding a lot.
