In the world of golf, the putter is a crucial piece of equipment that can make or break your game. Today, we're comparing two top-notch putters from TaylorMade: the Spider X Hydroblast Flow Neck Putter and the Spider GT Black #3 Putter. Both putters are designed with advanced technology and offer unique features that cater to different types of golfers. The Spider X Hydroblast is perfect for golfers of all skill levels, especially those with an unstable putting stroke, while the Spider GT Black #3 is ideal for high and low handicappers. Both putters offer excellent alignment, balance, and feel. However, the Spider X Hydroblast stands out for its forgiveness and aesthetic appeal, while the Spider GT Black #3 shines in its soft feel off the face and great alignment line. In the end, the choice between the two comes down to personal preference and specific golfing needs.

TaylorMade Spider X Hydroblast Flow Neck Putter summary

The TaylorMade Spider X Hydroblast Flow Neck Putter is a mallet-style putter that offers a perfect fit for every skill level, especially those with an unstable putting stroke. This putter is designed to provide distance control and face stability, making it one of the best in the game right now.

The Spider X Hydroblast features a platinum finish and a SuperStroke TM Pistol GTR 1.0 Gray/White grip. The putter's wide structure and weights in the back corners help straighten the roll out very well, making it great for helping on those awful miss-hits. The True Path alignment felt just right for the shape of the club, and helped line up the ball. The structure itself sits parallel to the alignment aid, which helps out a lot as well.

The putter's length of 34” sat just right for a golfer at 6’3”. The platinum colorway looks absolutely beautiful, and the grip feel is spectacular. The Pure Roll insert makes it feel so much better compared to other mallet putters. However, it doesn’t have that buttery feel like a Scotty Cameron blade does.

The Spider X Hydroblast #9 would be my go-to putter if I were to buy a mallet. For those looking for forgiveness, balance, and feel in their putter, it’s definitely worth consideration.

TaylorMade Spider GT Black #3 Putter summary

The TaylorMade Spider GT Black #3 Putter is an excellent, well-balanced putter that would be a fantastic fit for high and low handicappers. This putter is designed with a stark contrast on the white alignment line against the black body, which makes it easy to align putts.

The Spider GT Black #3 features a black finish and a SuperStroke Traxion 2.0 grip. The putter's weighting is very good, making lag putting relatively easy. The putter's length of 35” is perfect for a golfer at 6’1” tall. The black/red/white color scheme looks fantastic.

The putter has exceptional balance producing a smooth stroke. The two extended prongs to the shape of the putter get the weight toward the toe and heel of the putter and away from the face making it feel fantastic. However, it is not the most forgiving putter, especially on mishits on the toe.

In all my time since I purchased this club, I have been very pleased with the TaylorMade Spider GT Black #3 Putter. The looks are fantastic and one of my favorite things about the club. Also, lining up makeable 10-12 footers filled me with confidence.
