Video Transcript
My name is Leo, a curated.com Ski Expert, and today we're talking about the Faction Prodigy 1 versus the K2 Reckoner 92. Both are really fun, all-mountain freestyle skis that make a lot of sense for a wide variety of skiers. For starters, they're both a very good value, relatively inexpensive skis in the grand spectrum of things. They ski all mountain, all conditions pretty well - groomers, moguls, trees, even a little bit of light powder. But they're pretty forgiving and they're very freestyle forward.
Faction Prodigy 1 Skis
Let's dive into some differences, starting with the Faction Prodigy 1. This is a little bit more of a truly park-specific ski. It's 88 underfoot with a lot of rocker tip and tail. If you look at it from this profile here, you can see some really nice rise in both the tip and the tail which allows us to ski switch. It allows us to smear the ski around, it's pretty buttery and flexes into it nicely. But it also has good camber underfoot. You can see the sidewalls on here. So when you're skiing a groomer, it bites down really well and gives you a good edge when you need it. It's got a little bit of a wider tip than it does a tail, and so that helps with it tracking all mountain. So whether you're looking for a park-specific ski, or just an affordable all-mountain ski that's still freestyle friendly, this is a really great option to consider. I'm a very big fan of Faction. They have a headquarters here in Denver. I'm fortunate to ski this quite a bit. So I've gone on them a lot and I've just always had a really good experience.

K2 Reckoner 92 Skis
Now, jumping over here, this is the K2 Reckoner 92 and this is one of the best bangs for the buck in skiing. I'm an expert level pro skier and without a doubt, without fail, when I'm getting into some gnarly stuff and some trees and powder, somebody is bound to pop up next to me skiing on a K2 Reckoner 92. It just goes to show how wide of a birth it has in terms of what it's capable of and at $349, it's just an outstanding value. It's a good course ski. It has a capped wall construction, which means it's really durable on its edges and this 92 surface area handles a lot of different conditions and trends. So whether you're skiing hard pack or even some softer snow, it does exceptionally well. It will ultimately find its limits at extremely fast speeds. Both of these will. They're not carving skis, they're not going to perform like carving skis, but the amount of gas pedal you can get out of them on a groomer is really outstanding.
