Both are designed with the active freerider in mind, offering top-of-the-line waterproofing and breathability. The Volcom bibs are praised for their durability and versatility, with a two-layer GORE-TEX membrane and a plethora of pockets and vents. The 686 bibs, on the other hand, are lauded for their comfort and warmth, with a 2-layer shell and reinforced knees. The Volcom Men's Rain GORE-TEX Bib Overalls are a force to be reckoned with on the mountain. The key feature of these bibs is the two-layer GORE-TEX membrane, which offers top-class waterproofing. This makes them a no-brainer for those living in wet areas. Another standout feature is the Zip Tech, which allows you to connect the bibs to a Volcom jacket, creating a powder-proof onesie that eliminates the chance of snow getting into your gear. The bibs also feature YKK waterproof zippers, mesh-lined zipper vents on the inside of each leg, and zippered pockets on both the chest and the legs. The reinforced rise back hem and kick panels make this the most durable bib on the market. If you're looking for a bib that will keep you dry and last for many days on the mountain, this is the one for you.

I have worn my pair of Volcom Rain Gore-Tex bib for well over 200 days on the hill. This bib has held together for me beyond my initial hopes when purchasing them. The Volcom rain bib has kept me dry through every condition imaginable.

The 686 Men's GORE-TEX Stretch Dispatch Bib Pants are a versatile and durable option for riders who want one pair of bibs that can handle any weather conditions. They are extremely warm and comfortable, making them perfect for all-day riding. The bibs are made with GORE-TEX material, providing next-level waterproofing to keep you dry even in slush. They have all the tech features you could want, including reinforced knees and plenty of pockets and vents. However, they may not be the best choice for those looking for maximum breathability or longer leg length.

Purchased these bibs before going to Breckenridge in '22, during my trip it seems that we were hit with every kind of weather, blue sky days followed by dumping powder followed by rain that eventually turned to ice. These bibs held up through them all. Extremely comfortable to ride in all day.
