In the world of all-mountain skis, the Salomon Stance 84 and Dynastar M-Pro 85 Open are two top contenders for the 2024 season. Both skis are designed to offer a playful, versatile experience on the slopes, but they each have their unique strengths. The Salomon Stance 84 is praised for its forgiving flex profile and agility, making it a great choice for skiers who love carving and tackling tricky terrain like moguls and trees. On the other hand, the Dynastar M-Pro 85 Open is lauded for its stiffness and groomer skiability, making it an excellent choice for skiers looking to grow their skills and venture off-piste. While both skis have their merits, the final verdict will depend on your personal skiing style and preferences.

The Salomon Stance 84 Skis are designed to offer a playful and fun all-mountain experience with a focus on carving. These skis have a forgiving flex profile, thanks to the use of less titanal compared to its wider counterparts. This makes them easily disengaged and suitable for tricky terrain like moguls and trees. Whether you're carving on groomed slopes or tackling icy steeps, these skis offer agility, reliability, and a smooth ride. The Stance 84's progressive sidecut and lively wood core provide agility and reliability, while the new Titanal and carbon construction offer excellent grip on the snow. This ski is really stable in chattery conditions, but still quick from edge to edge in tight terrain. A bit of tip rocker makes it forgiving in variable snow and helps in off-piste adventures, but at 84mm underfoot, it's got instant bite on firm snow and secure edge grip in icier conditions.

Really fun all-mountain profile that's geared more towards carving than freeride. Don't let the marketing copy fool you, even though Solomon uses a fair bit of titanal in the Stance range, they've really tailored its shape for a playful feel that you can disengage instantly, even in tricky terrain like moguls and trees.

The Dynastar M-Pro 85 Open Skis are a great pick for anyone who wants to grow as a skier and have a ski for a few seasons to grow with them. These skis are designed with a titanal insert that offers improved dampening and a stiffer feel, while a Poplar core offers an energetic flex. At 85mm underfoot, these skis are great for anyone who spends the majority of their time on groomers, but want to venture off piste as well. Dynastar uses a hybrid wood/polyurethane core to give you excellent power and carving ability. The unique construction eliminates the metal in this ski, making it extremely light and flickable, but still stiff enough for most intermediate to advanced skiers.

This is a great front-side ski if you're looking to stay on the narrow-side but you don't want to totally go down to a ski in the 75mm underfoot range and totally lose that powder-day, tree-skiing fun! Dynastar uses a hybrid wood/polyutherane core to give you excellent power and carving ability!
