The Quiksilver Men's Mission GORE-TEX Jacket is best for skiers and snowboarders seeking a versatile, weather-resistant shell. Its GORE-TEX material ensures wind and waterproof protection, making it ideal for stormy conditions, and its six-pocket design, including a pass pocket and goggle lens cloth, offers ample storage. The jacket's shell design allows for easy layering to accommodate various temperatures, though it has lower breathability and minimal stretch. Despite these cons, its durability, comfort, and the ability to stay warm with added mid-layers make it a great value for those needing a reliable jacket in varying weather conditions.

Expert Reviews of the Quiksilver Men's Mission GORE-TEX Jacket
Cody Linden This jacket is a great option for those who want to shred the mountain in all types of weather. The wind and waterproof shell keep me warm and dry even on the deepest powder days. Due to its shell design, I can easily add or remove layers underneath to dial in the perfect temperature.
I wore this jacket with just a T-shirt underneath on a warm sunny day (high 30°F), and it was plenty warm. I even opened the vents for some air. On colder days, I layer up, close the vents, and still stay nice and toasty.
This jacket also comes with plenty of storage. On the exterior, there is one zippered chest pocket, two zippered front-hand pockets, and one dedicated pass pocket on the left wrist. Inside is a small Velcro pocket on the right and a convenient open-top dump pocket on the left.
I can comfortably fit a 10oz canteen and my phone inside the chest pocket, my wallet in the inner Velcro pocket, keys in the front left-hand pocket, and headphones in the front right-hand pocket. With all this, I still have ample room for snacks (i.e., Ziploc full of bacon and two fig bars). So, for people who like to carry a lot of stuff, this jacket has them covered.
Although this jacket performs great, it should be noted that the Gore-Tex, in general, can feel a little plasticky and less breathable, especially on warmer days (opening the armpit vents helps remedy this).

Waterproofing
5/5
Cody Linden gave 5 of 5 stars. GORE-TEX has become incredibly popular in recent years for a reason. It works, and this jacket is no different. Quality GORE-TEX material is used in the construction of this jacket, which gives it a water and windproof barrier to protect me from the elements. Now, with material as robust as this, wearers sacrifice a little bit of breathability and stretch, but for me, the pros outweigh the cons in this case.
Aesthetics
5/5
Cody Linden gave 5 of 5 stars. This jacket comes in single solid colors with simple branding logos. This gives it an understated look that someone can pair with various gloves, pants, helmets, and hats. The fit is also not overly baggy or tight. So, once again, the visual silhouette is easy to pair with other outerwear items.
Breathability
2/5
Cody Linden gave 2 of 5 stars. This jacket is composed of heavy-duty, high-quality GORE-TEX, and the unfortunate disadvantage of that is its breathability. This is likely the weakest attribute of this jacket. As it says above, this is not a suffocating piece of outerwear, but it can make someone feel more "stifled," especially with the vents closed and on warmer days.
Durability
5/5
Cody Linden gave 5 of 5 stars. Riders or skiers have likely experienced falling in the snow, sliding down hills, or falling on terrain park features. Or, at the very least, they tossed their snow-covered jacket into the back of their car at the end of the day with their wet gloves and sweaty beanies. I've done all these things (and more), and the jacket has held up great. No rips, no tears. It's in the same condition as when it came in the mail.
Comfort
4/5
Cody Linden gave 4 of 5 stars. With material like GORE-TEX, I experience a bit of a trade-off between water/windproofing and breathability/stretch. However, this jacket is not tailored to be overly tight, so the extra space provides ample movement to the point where the minimal stretch is almost forgotten. On warmer days, it can heat up quickly in the jacket, but removing a mid-layer and opening the vents has solved this issue for me.
Warmth
4/5
Cody Linden gave 4 of 5 stars. This jacket by itself is not the warmest option due to its shell design. However, since it locks out the elements so well, I feel that mid-layers underneath the jacket make a greater impact than they usually do. For example, a simple flannel under this jacket keeps me warm in 20°F weather. Where with other jackets, I may need a flannel and a henley or puffer underneath to stay warm in similar conditions.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Cody Linden I love the versatility and "always ready" nature of this jacket. Whether it's a freezing blizzard or a sunny bluebird day, I can just throw this jacket in the car with a few extra mid-layers, and I am covered. This GORE-TEX shell keeps the wind and elements out and allows me to just focus on adding mid-layers underneath to dial in the warmth to my heart's content.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Cody Linden My favorite moment with this gear was at Snowbasin in UT with my friend. The day started warmer and clear but ended cold and windy. In the morning, I wore a T-shirt and flannel underneath the Quiksilver Mission jacket. I had the vents open and was very comfortable riding. The wind picked up as the day progressed, so I closed the vents and stayed warm.
However, the temperature started dropping when we stopped for lunch, so I threw on a lightweight, puffy mid-layer underneath the jacket, reopened the vents, and it returned to the perfect temperature. Even though the weather was highly variable, I could adapt and keep riding all day without becoming uncomfortable or inconveniencing my friend. I even stayed dry by the time we got back to the car at 3:45pm.
Why did you choose this product?
Cody Linden I chose this outerwear for its shell versatility and storage space. The wind and waterproof shell allow me to wear this jacket in a variety of conditions and stay dry. I can adjust my mid-layers for the optimal temperature depending on the day.
The storage space created by a total of six pockets allows me to carry food, water, and various personal items so that I don't need to bring a backpack. There is also an integrated goggle lens cloth sewn into the front left pocket, which is incredibly convenient when my lens(es) fogs up.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Cody Linden This jacket is a great budget-friendly, high-quality option from Quiksilver. At the time of this review, this jacket cost me around $300, which is almost half as much as other name brands such as Arc'teryx, Burton, Jones, etc. The Quiksilver jacket's overall performance is close to those name brands. Therefore, it is a more budget-friendly, dependable option that won't let wearers down in the elements.
