Expert Reviews of the Smith Scout MIPS Helmet
Annika L. The Smith Scout MIPS Helmet is a great all-around helmet for skiing and snowboarding. This helmet uses top-of-the-line industry safety standards with ABS materials (designed for impact resistance) and MIPS system (designed to decrease the severity of rotational forces caused by angled impacts). Both of these features drastically increase brain protection so one can get sendy on the slopes confidently.
This helmet doesn't sacrifice comfort for function and features eight vents and removable ear pads for maximum comfort in a variety of conditions on the mountain. This helmet integrates with all Smith goggles, keeping your lenses fog-free and eliminating gaps. As a bonus, if one enjoys listening to music while skiing or riding, this helmet is equipped with ear slips for Bluetooth headphones.
I have been using this helmet for years and have found it to be comfortable and warm, and I have not had any issues with the durability of the components. I have a smaller head and usually struggle to find secure helmets, but the Scout MIPS fits my head well without being too tight and is easily adjustable.
Overall, this is a great helmet for beginners and advanced skiers alike, and it has all the components that make it safe, comfortable, and stylish.

Waterproofing
5/5
Annika L. gave 5 of 5 stars. The hardshell exterior of the Smith Scout provides excellent waterproofing for everyday use. If someone is in pouring rain or a blizzard all day, they can expect the earpads to get damp; however, in my experience, the helmet stays warm and comfortable even when damp. The Smith Scout is "beanie compatible," so if I need extra insulation from the elements, I can easily fit a hat or balaclava underneath with no discomfort.
