The Curated Take
4.6/5
The Black Crows Atris Skis are ideal for expert all-mountain skiers seeking versatility in various conditions. With a 105mm waist, they offer great float in powder without sacrificing stability due to their double-rocker profile and camber underfoot. They excel in big mountain terrain, providing smooth turns and playful performance on deep days. While not the best for icy groomers or high speeds, they offer excellent edge hold on hardpack and are durable for future seasons. These skis are a top choice for those wanting a one-ski quiver for Western resorts.
Ideal for
- Great for charging through any snow condition
- A great resort ski for the Rockies
- Floats well without compromising stability
Not ideal for
- Might not be the best for icy groomers due to the wide waist
- Speed demons may want to look elsewhere

Expert Reviews of the Black Crows Atris Skis
Miranda G For someone who is looking for an all-mountain ski that floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee, this is the pair. The Black Crows Atris have been around for years and just keep getting better. Some notable changes include the new, flashy topsheet design that's sure to grab anyone's attention. The double-rocker profile helps this ski be versatile in any big mountain terrain, giving the ideal combination of smooth turns and stability while still being a very playful powder ski on deep days. Camber underfoot and at 105mm instead of the older versions at 108, this is an excellent option for an all-mountain ski. The Atris skis transition seamlessly between powder, moguls, hardpack, and ungroomed surfaces.
Simon Johnson I was highly impressed with this ski during testing. It is damp for a lightweight ski, has a nice tail rocker to it, and holds an edge very well for 105 underfoot. Side hits and soft chop were a dream and really only started getting out of hand at the highest of speeds. I felt as if I wanted to pop off of everything on the mountain. On the groomers, they held a better edge than most in the mid-fat ski class, and the tails had enough energy build-up in turns. The Atris is ideal for intermediate to expert skiers out West looking for a mid-speed, one-ski quiver.

Turn Ease
5/5
Miranda G gave 4 of 5 stars. The Atris skis are responsive and playful, but the stiffness does make them just a bit harder to turn than some other big mountain skis. For someone who wants to ski in various and sometimes variable conditions, these skis won't let them down. A compromise to make them an easier turning ski would be a slightly shorter length than what one usually skis on.
Simon Johnson gave 5 of 5 stars. My turns were super nimble and forgiving for the width of the ski. As I got into the turn, they held a great edge, and the stiffer tails helped propel me into the next arc. A+ on turns!
Playfulness
5/5
Miranda G gave 4 of 5 stars. With a 105mm waist, it's plenty wide for powder. The double rocker helps it float in pow, and the camber underfoot gives the ski some bounce that helps charge through fresh snow and chopped-up pow. It is such a stable ski, though it might not be quite as playful as a flexy ski designed for just skiing powder.
Simon Johnson gave 5 of 5 stars. It’s smeary and buttery and has a great pop of bumps and jumps. As I rode these, I found myself aiming for the next lip or side hit. They are light in the air and damp on landing.
Durability
5/5
Miranda G gave 5 of 5 stars. Black Crows have got to be some of the best skis on the market in terms of durability. The Atris are solid and will last for seasons. The technology is only improving at this point, and there's a new material for the topsheets that will keep the skis looking pristine. Put the Atris 2024 skis through the wringer, and they'll be there to keep me on my feet.
Simon Johnson gave 4 of 5 stars. I tend to be hard on skis and usually notice tip chips start to appear, but not with these. The topsheet has a smooth texture that doesn’t seem to show wear as much as most skis. The only better way to get a more durable top is to add a textured finish.
High Speed Stability
4/5
Miranda G gave 5 of 5 stars. I had never felt so stable on a pair of skis until I tried the Black Crow Atris. They allow the skier to feel in control even when cruising through crud, ripping a groomer, or flying through fresh powder. It's difficult to find a ski that can confidently transition between different snow conditions. I can go fast and take some chances in these without hesitation.
Simon Johnson gave 3 of 5 stars. The Atris, while fun and playful, has more of a 7/10 speed rating. They don’t have metal in the build to really hold them grounded, but they can do okay if skiers aren't straight-lining steeps. They are a fairly stable wood ski but, overall, middle of the pack in terms of stability at speed.
Carving
5/5
Miranda G gave 5 of 5 stars. If it's not a powder day, these skis are still my top choice to take out to rip some groomers. They hold an edge like no other skis at 105mm underfoot that I've experienced. Black Crows Atris is a jack of all trades for someone who primarily wants to lay an edge or enjoy powder day or gets stuck with variable conditions, as we all sometimes do.
Simon Johnson gave 4 of 5 stars. As I rode these on groomed runs, I was shocked by the control on hardpacked areas. Usually, I get some slide-out with a playful ski, but not with these. I recommend these to anyone looking for a mid-fat ski that holds an edge on hardpack days.
Versatility
4/5
Miranda G gave 5 of 5 stars. These skis are so versatile in all snow conditions; they are the best I've experienced. I'm always compromising something on a lighter ski or something wider or narrower. This is a ski where I don't have to compromise much to get exactly what I want. They will float in powder, support me in crud, and hold an edge on a groomer like no other. These skis are a blast and a half, even if the snow is subpar.
Simon Johnson gave 3 of 5 stars. These skis were great for most areas on the mountain when I skied Snowbird. However, one area in which they could be a bit better was in hardpacked bumps and chunder. The tips are pretty forgiving, so one can feel like they’re getting bucked backward at speed.
Flotation
4/5
Miranda G gave 5 of 5 stars. When I wake up and see that the mountains got a surprise 12" of new, low-density snow overnight, I don't hesitate to take my Crows out. Their float is genuinely excellent, and the 105mm waist is the ideal width, in my opinion. When the fresh snow gets skied out, and I'm left with choppier conditions, these are still the best options for floating on by.
Simon Johnson gave 3 of 5 stars. For the 105mm waist, these skis have a nice float to them. They could be used confidently up to 8" of snow, making them a great powder ski for the East Coast and a mostly daily driver on the West or deeper days with over a foot of new snow.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Miranda G I love the versatility of the Atris skis in different snow conditions.
Simon Johnson The Atris is an excellent ski. It’s light and playful, enjoys popping off of bumps and side hits, and carves well on groomers for being 105 underfoot. I loved skiing these in soft chop and bumps and aimed to take flight wherever I could.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Simon Johnson My favorite moment on the Atris was going in and out of soft chop/bumps and groomers in Jackson Hole. Popping over bumps and steering the ski back to the groomer was a blast.
Why did you choose this product?
Miranda G Black Crows make some of the most reliable, stable, and playful skis on the market. This is a tough combination to achieve. The Atris skis were a no-brainer to try out, plus the graphics are totally rad.
Simon Johnson I chose the Atris, looking for something soft and light but with enough backbone to blast through soft snow. These were excellent for smearing through the freshies.
