Hey guys, it's Shane Larsen from curated.com, your Snowboarding Expert. You can also find me on Instagram @allmountainshane. Today, we are here to talk about the Lib Tech T.Rice Pro versus the CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome snowboard. We're going to discuss who they're good for, why they're good, key features, some specs, and then we'll talk about the similarities and differences.
Lib Tech T.Rice Pro Snowboard
First of all, the Lib Tech T.Rice Pro. I have had the fortunate chance to ride this board up in Pagosa Springs at Wolf Creek and I loved this snowboard. The nice thing about this board is that it has a camber rocker camber profile. It's camber on both nose and tail and rocker between the feet. It rides very true to our old school boards. If you're a Burton guy like I was for many years and you're used to that rocker profile, the original profile, this board will react a lot like those. It is a true twin shape and a very stiff board.
If you are not used to a stiff board or a board with pro features as this board has, and if you're a newer snowboarder or somebody who's kind of intermediate still getting into snowboarding, I would probably steer clear of this board. This thing is stiff and is going to definitely be recommended for the advanced and expert riders out there. It has a sublimated sintered base, so it's going to last you a long time and it's going to hold wax really well.
The big thing with this board, especially with Lib Tech, is they've come out with this thing called the Magne-traction Edge. Just like a steak knife, they have come up with these serrated edges. As you look down the length of the snowboard, you're going to see these almost serrations in the snowboard itself with the edge that helps you grind, especially on hard, icy packed stuff. So if you ride on the east coast and you're an advanced guy, this is going to be a board that I would highly recommend.

CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome Snowboard
Now, the CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome, this board is awesome. I rode this in Brian Head in phenomenal conditions. This thing was just an all mountain pro. It could do everything. It went in the powder, it came off the groomers and went into the hard pack without any problem at all. The biggest thing with this guy is that this has a rocker camber rocker profile. It is camber between the feet, rocker tip and tail. It is also a true twin. The waist width is only like two millimeters shorter or narrower than the T.Rice Pro. It's a wide board and they have what's called their Quantum Drive base.
The Quantum Drive base is a sintered base and it is also made out of a high density polyurethane. They have taken the time to make this thing last you forever. It will hold wax, it will hold everything just the same. It's going to last you a long time with that base. Their edges are also made out of 360 Edge made out of HRC 48 steel, which will last you a long time and hold their edge sharpness for a long time. The flex rating we give this is a six (6). It's just about as stiff as a T.Rice Pro but a little bit more forgiving.
Again, if this is something that you want to get into, this board is going to be recommended for those intermediate or advanced riders, not going to be for like a beginner boarder or somebody who's just getting into the sport.
