The Curated Take

4.4/5

The 2024 Blizzard Sheeva 9 Skis are perfect for intermediate to advanced women skiers seeking all-mountain versatility. With a 96mm waist, they offer quick turn initiation, good edge grip on groomers, and decent flotation in soft snow, but are not ideal for deep powder or specialized carving. The construction provides stability at high speeds, and their playful style makes them fun in various conditions. Durable and maneuverable, they're a great daily driver for both East and West Coast skiing. Overall, the Sheeva 9 is a reliable, enjoyable ski for those looking to explore different aspects of the mountain.

Expert Reviews of the Blizzard Sheeva 9 Skis

Daniela A I own the 2023 Sheeva and use it as my daily driver, so when I had the chance to test the 2024 Sheeva, knowing the construction changes that were made, I jumped at the opportunity. I didn't think it was possible for me to love this ski more than I already did, but I do! As someone who is happy skiing a bit more playfully, just as much as ripping groomers at speed, the changes to the Sheeva have made it possible for me to enjoy both in one package. While it is not my top pick when I want precise, high-edge angle carved turns, it does a pretty good job on the groomers/hardpack, and I definitely noticed I was able to bring the new version of the Sheevas up to higher speeds than the previous model. It also performs well in variable terrain, in the bumps, through crud, etc. Good edge grip on ice as well. Additionally, while it offers good float in some soft snow, it's not a true deep powder ski. All in all, this is an excellent ski that can be used on the East or West Coast, especially for that skier who wants to get into a bit of everything and has a more playful approach.
Haley T. The Blizzard Sheeva 9s are a great ski for anyone who wants to avoid the chaos of having multiple skis. They perform great on groomers and powder. They can handle trees and moguls but aren’t designed specifically for them. Depending on the length, these skies have a radius of 12-16, so they can make pretty tight turns, which is great. As an experienced skier, I thought they were great during testing. My friend who just started skiing last year loved them as well. The wider shovel allows for more float in powder, but having a 96mm waist means they won’t perform well in heavy powder. Overall, this ski is reliable and fun for anywhere on the mountain.

Turn Ease

5/5
Daniela A gave 5 of 5 stars. The Sheeva 9 felt really good going in and coming out of the turns. I found the turn initiation to be smooth and rather effortless, and I also enjoyed the energy and pop I felt coming out of the turns. The metal Blizzard placed along the ski's edges makes the turns feel much smoother than the previous version.
Haley T. gave 4 of 5 stars. These skis turned very well and had sharp, concise turns. I had no problem avoiding people on a crowded day, carving across the mountain, and going through moguls with these skis. Given the width of 96mm waist and their marketing as an all-mountain ski, I was concerned that I would be making wide, slow turns, but that wasn't the case at all. They were also easy to manipulate, so I didn't have to work too hard to get them to turn.

Playfulness

4/5
Daniela A gave 5 of 5 stars. The Sheeva 9 has a freeride, playful personality. It's a great ski for side hits along the trail, and because of its quick turn initiation and how nimble and maneuverable it is, it's fun to take in the bumps and trees as well. While I am not the best switch ski skier, I could ski these switch, which is always fun.
Haley T. gave 3 of 5 stars. This ski isn't particularly playful. It's fun to ride, for sure, but it's more of a hard-charging, aggressive ski than a playful one. This ski is great for carving, in addition to being great for all-mountain adventures. I wouldn't particularly take this ski on jumps, even on the sides of funs, and it's definitely not a park/freestyle ski, but that doesn't make it bad at all. It's still a good, solid ski, just more of a controlled ski for going hard.

Durability

5/5
Daniela A gave 5 of 5 stars. Skiers don't need to worry about the durability of Blizzard skis, including the Sheeva 9. I typically find that the top sheet holds up really well, and the high-quality materials in its construction make the skis last for several seasons. This version of the Sheeva has a new titanal construction that's designed to give it increased durability.
Haley T. gave 5 of 5 stars. This ski is very durable. I put it through the ringer when I was testing it out. I took it on crud, hardpack, and ice. Then I took it between the trees and in powder. It handled it all beautifully. At the end of the day, there weren't any areas of concern. The topsheet stayed intact, and the base looked good. Don't be afraid to push this ski to the limits; it can handle it.

High Speed Stability

4/5
Daniela A gave 4 of 5 stars. The Sheeva 9 performs decently well at high speeds, but it is not going to beat out some of the other more directional skis out there that are more well-suited for high speeds and carving. That being said, for such a versatile all-mountain ski, the Sheeva does handle high speeds well, with a lot less chatter than one would expect.
Haley T. gave 4 of 5 stars. Blizzard did a good job ensuring that the titanal, an aluminum alloy, provided stability throughout the ski while keeping the ski relatively light. While using this ski, I made sure to charge hard and bomb down off-piste sections of the mountain. Considering how hard I was going, I didn't feel much chatter at all in the tip, which was nice to see and experience.

Carving

4/5
Daniela A gave 3 of 5 stars. Despite its 96mm waist width and tip/tail rocker, the Sheeva 9 does carve relatively well. There are other skis I would choose ahead of it to achieve high edge angles and stability, but it holds its own and is a lot better than one would expect. It had a good edge grip on the groomers and firm snow and even did well in icy conditions.
Haley T. gave 4 of 5 stars. These skis carve very well, which was exciting for me. I was able to get up on my edges without a problem. They made fast, short turns, which is fun, and the rocker-camber-rocker profile allowed me to press down and really carve into the runs I was on.

Versatility

5/5
Daniela A gave 5 of 5 stars. This is a ski someone can pretty much take anywhere, and it will perform well. It's lots of fun in the groomers, handles soft snow and crud well, is easy to flick around in the bumps/moguls, and is really nimble to take through the trees. It handles variability and unpredictability really well, so it's confidence-inspiring.
Haley T. gave 5 of 5 stars. The Sheeva 9s are marketed as an all-mountain ski and a great one-ski quiver. I completely agree. They were fun, fast, and hard-charging. The wide shovel allows for flotation in powder, and the small rise in the tail is great. Skiers can go anywhere with these skis at any time.

Flotation

4/5
Daniela A gave 3 of 5 stars. With its significant rocker and ample splay in the tips and tails, this ski has pretty impressive soft snow performance, as long as skiers are not in true deep powder. With a few inches of fresh, soft snow, this ski is great. Additionally, it performs well in chopped-up snow and crud as well.
Haley T. gave 4 of 5 stars. The wide shovel and rise in the tip and tail of the Sheeva 9s means that skiers can conquer that powder day without any worry. The biggest difference that would make these better on powder would be a slightly wider waist, but at 96mm, they still can go through powder and keep one on top.

FAQs

What do you love about this product?

Daniela A There is so much to love about the Sheeva 9—nimble, versatile, easy to turn and use. It's a great daily driver.
Haley T. I enjoyed seeing what this ski could handle. I wanted to see how it performed in the Rockies as an all-mountain ski with a wider waist. The Sheevas did very well. These skis handled trees, powder, and groomers with little effort and responded to every move I made.

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Daniela A I had them at Stratton, VT, during some non-ideal conditions—really thin cover, some slush, and some ice. I really didn't think the Sheeva would hold up too well, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had a decent amount of edge grip on the ice and was great in the slush and crud.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Haley T. The Sheeva 9s are in the same price range as many other top all-mountain women's skis. At about $750, I think they are reasonably priced and worth their money, considering they are a good option for a one-ski quiver.
