The Curated Take

4.1/5

The Fischer Ranger 90 is a versatile all-mountain ski, ideal for intermediate skiers who enjoy a mix of on and off-piste conditions. Its lightweight and maneuverable design allows for quick turns and agility in tight terrain, making it great for tree skiing. The ski's forgiving flex and metal construction provide edge hold and stability, although it may not be stiff enough for hard-charging skiers or deep powder days. With its ability to cater to various skiing styles and perform well at medium speeds, the Ranger 90 is a fun and zippy option for those looking to explore the mountain.

Expert Reviews of the Fischer Ranger 90 Skis

max pilling The Fischer Ranger 90 is a great all-mountain ski. It is light and maneuverable, which helps maneuver through trees and tight terrain. A more forgiving flex is great for pivoting and slashing while also being easy for those not experts at skiing. Metal in the ski helps to hold an edge while skiing well. Even though it is 90 underfoot, it does fine in off-piste conditions. This ski likes to be quick and is highly agile while going through turns. It doesn't hold up amazingly in high-speed turns. But it is versatile in accommodating various skiing styles.

Review Ratings

Turn Ease

5/5
max pilling gave 5 of 5 stars. These are a breeze to turn because of their lightweight and forgiving nature. They are quick on the entrance and exit of a turn and excel at a medium speed. They hold an edge well but are quick to pivot and slash while not on groomers.

Playfulness

4/5
max pilling gave 4 of 5 stars. Despite having a metal strip throughout most of the ski, the lightweightness of the ski and rocker helps the ski to be forgiving and easy to pivot, slash, and ski off edge. Because they are so maneuverable, they lend themselves to being great at slower and medium speeds to be more creative and playful.

Durability

5/5
max pilling gave 5 of 5 stars. They have a sandwiched sidewall and metal throughout the ski. The hard plastic top is also very scratch-resistant, and the bases don't scratch easily. These skis will hold their flex throughout many seasons of hard use, ensuring I don't need to buy a new pair anytime soon.

High Speed Stability

3/5
max pilling gave 3 of 5 stars. Because of the lightweight nature of these skis, they feel better at medium speeds. They get a little bit chattery when going really fast, but due to the metal in the ski, they hold an edge well in hardpack and have great power. They lean more towards light and maneuverable than hard charging.

Carving

5/5
max pilling gave 5 of 5 stars. These have great edge hold and power. They are easy to go from edge to edge and perform great when entering and exiting a carve. They feel best at medium speeds but start to wobble at higher speeds. These are fun for ripping blues and less steep terrain where one won't be going crazy fast.

Versatility

4/5
max pilling gave 4 of 5 stars. These skis perform surprisingly well in all-mountain terrain for their width. They do well at pivoting, slashing, and getting sideways while also being able to hold an edge. They aren't good for deep powder, but these skis get me around the mountain most days.

Flotation

3/5
max pilling gave 3 of 5 stars. They do surprisingly well in deep snow for how narrow these are. Due to their lightness and rocker, I can ski in about 5" of powder. But at only 90 underfoot, there is a limit to their flotation. These are good for a little soft snow, but skiers will want something wider on a proper powder day.
