Review Ratings
Turn Ease
5/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 5 of 5 stars. The Atomic Maven 86 C is a front-side favorite that makes clean S turns all the way down the runs. Atomic's signature HRZN tech beveled tip shape and generous rocker profile in both the tips and tails of the ski make turn initiation and release quite easy.
Playfulness
3/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 3 of 5 stars. The Atomic Maven 86 C is a traditional all-mountain ski that really leans into perfecting classic skiing with the aid of modern shape profiles. While skiers can make it dance for them and have a lot of fun on it, it's not a smeary, soft, or flexy ski the way a lot of similar options in this category would perform. Honestly, that's really good for skiers looking to perform at a higher level.
Durability
5/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 5 of 5 stars. Atomic has always been known as a high-quality brand for skiers looking for durability, performance, and longevity out of their gear. There’s a reason why they’re one of the top brands used by athletes on the race circuit, including the all-time great Mikaela Schriffin. The quality of construction and Atomic skis is second to none.
High Speed Stability
4/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 4 of 5 stars. Atomic uses its OMatic core technology to stiffen and stabilize its skis. The carbon blend in the core makes for a stable and smooth ride.

5/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 5 of 5 stars. The Maven is an excellent carving ski with a quick turning radius for its class. The OMatic core gives a great feel of stiffness, stability, and satisfying responsiveness for carving. It's particularly beneficial to those progressing skiers looking to improve their ability to hang on and keep the edges engaged through the whole turn.
Versatility
4/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 4 of 5 stars. The Atomic Maven 86 C is a front-side favorite that meets the needs of a wide range of skiers. It's a great option for beginners and experts, so it's very versatile in the sense that many people can feel at home on it. It can handle the majority of the resort comfortably in most conditions outside of the extremes.
Flotation
4/5
Leo Cocchiara gave 4 of 5 stars. The Atomic Maven 86 C is one of the best skis skiers can get on for powder in the under 90mm waist class again due to the HRZN tech tip, which gives it better float in soft snow than a traditional shape, but it will still eventually find its limits in deeper than 6".
