The Curated Take

4.4/5

The Bataleon Goliath+ Snowboard is ideal for advanced riders seeking a stable, hard-charging board for all-mountain domination. Its triple base technology (3BT) aids in turn transition and provides float, while maintaining edge hold and stability at high speeds. The board excels in packed pow and groomers, offering effortless turns and great stability. While it may be less maneuverable at slow speeds or in bumps, its overall performance, durability, and versatility make it an excellent choice for riders looking for a high-performance all-mountain board.

Expert Reviews of the Bataleon Goliath+ Snowboard

Taylor Bezek Snappy, light, and crazy fast. The Bataleon Goliath+ Snowboard delivers a refreshing new option for advanced all-mountain domination. With about 10 days of riding this board in various conditions in Big Sky, Montana, under my belt, I can say this is by far one of the most fun boards I have ridden. I am 5’11”, 230lbs, and am on the 161W version of this board. This thing pops like a dream, transitions from heel to toe smoother than butter, and is exceptionally stable at high speeds. The triple base technology (3BT) aids in turn transition, adds a bit of playfulness, and provides float while not taking anything away from being able to hold an edge or really lay down a turn. While it can be a bit more cumbersome when making tight turns at slower speeds, it is more than made up for by the stability at speed and its ability to inspire confidence when cruising in crud or packed pow. It also floats considerably well in powder due in part to the 3BT. All in all, I think this is an excellent all-mountain board for the advanced rider. I definitely recommend it!

Review Ratings

Turn Ease

5/5
Taylor Bezek gave 5 of 5 stars. This board makes turning feel so intuitive that I'm not even thinking about it. The Goliath loves to be on edge and almost pushes me from toe to heel and back again. The 3BT makes turn initiation easier despite its stiffer flex and traditional camber. It truly is a joy to carve around on.

Playfulness

3/5
Taylor Bezek gave 3 of 5 stars. This board is billed as stiffer (7/10) deck. In my 10 days of riding, I would say it pops and responds like a stiffer board, but with the 3BT, it’s still plenty playful. It’s a ton of fun to butter on and rip side hits while cruising back the lift.

Durability

4/5
Taylor Bezek gave 4 of 5 stars. I’ve been riding this board during a historically bad snow year in Montana, and anyone who has ever been here before knows what that means: lots of rocks. I have been truly impressed with how this board has handled somewhat frequent bumps and scrapes with lurking snow sharks. No major dings, core shots, or edge damage yet.

High Speed Stability

5/5
Taylor Bezek gave 5 of 5 stars. This board feels at home at high speeds, whether it’s on fresh cord, packed pow, or straight-up crud. It’s also no slouch in powder. Regardless of the conditions, I feel confident charging this thing as fast as it lets me go. The sidewall flares and 3BT on the nose and tail dampen variable terrain significantly.

Flotation

4/5
Taylor Bezek gave 4 of 5 stars. I took this board off the tram at Big Sky on a 7” powder day (one of very few this season). I had mediocre expectations for this board in powder, and it totally exceeded them. While definitely not a freeride-specific deck, the 3BT inevitably gave this board more float and a somewhat surfy feel in deeper snow. I was pleasantly surprised.

Carving

5/5
Taylor Bezek gave 5 of 5 stars. Most of the riding I have done on this board has been on groomers, and I was worried that the 3BT would make carving a bit more difficult. That has not been the case at all. The effective edge felt normal when carving, and the cambered profile underfoot made it easy to lay down deep carves and carry great speed out of them.

Versatility

5/5
Taylor Bezek gave 5 of 5 stars. This board provides above average to exceptional performance on all types of terrain. I have traditionally ridden Lib Tech and CAPiTA, and while I love those boards, the Goliath+ is something special. I would ride this board just about anywhere without any reservations. This is a true all-mountain ripper.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Taylor Bezek My favorite moment riding this board was jamming down a packed powder run at high speed, getting insane pop off of a roller, and landing feeling completely stable and in control.

Why did you choose this product?

Taylor Bezek I was between this board and several others but decided on the Goliath+ because I wanted to try the 3BT after hearing so many good things and wanted an aggressive all-mountain board.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Taylor Bezek Compared to other premium all-mountain boards (CAPiTA BSOD, Super DOA, Golden Orca, Jones), I think the Bataleon Goliath+ is an excellent value for the cost. This board is a blast to ride and won't break the bank.
