Key Features
- Design Specific to Women: Callaway leveraged player performance data to design the lofts, swingweights, and head shapes of the clubs to be optimized for women's performance.
- Extra Draw Bias Design: By adding extra offset to the club head, the irons were designed to reduce a slice.
- Urethane Microspheres: Callaway’s patented urethane microspheres help absorb vibrations which improve the sound and sensation at impact.
- AI Designed Flash Face Cup: Artificial intelligence has been used for the first time in an iron to maximize flexibility and speed across the irons' face to help increase ball speed and distance.
Overall Impressions
Armana lets us know right off the bat that the Callaway Big Bertha REVA Women’s Irons are some of the few clubs that are designed specifically for women. She explains that “from the head to the shaft, everything has been designed for a women's swing.”
This woman-centered design is apparent. Armana says that “you can tell” when you hit the ball that “the club itself is extremely lightweight, very lightweight, which is great if you have a slower swing speed.” In fact, if you have a slower swing speed, Armana believes that “this is definitely the way to go.”
Despite the fact that these clubs are built for women from the ground up, they don’t have an overly feminine design, which Armana appreciates. She explains that because “it's got some really nice color, really simple design,” she thinks that “it looks really sharp, and it's a little bit more timeless than some previous women's clubs.”
She’s found that the technology in the entire REVA line is “really awesome.” Like the rest of the Callaway irons, these have Flash Face tech that maximizes the ball speed and distance. Additionally, these irons have a low center of gravity that lets you get “some high launch shots” with “lots of spin on there to help get your ball up in the air.”
Summing it all up, Armana says, “Overall, I’m just really excited about this club for just the general woman who wants to go out and play and have a club that fits her better. It looks great, it feels great on impact. This club feels awesome.”
Things to Consider
For golfers with higher swing speeds, like Armana, the irons might be “a little too flexy.” She currently uses the Callaway Apex 19s in a regular flex shaft, which works better for her fast swing speed.
Summing It Up
What They’re Good For
- Golfers with slower swing speeds
- Lightweight club
What They’re Not Good For
- Golfers who hit hard and fast
