If you are looking for the perfect golfing gift for your dad that won’t break the bank, stop right here and take a look! Trust me, your dad will love any one of these items. Fifteen years ago, my dad gave me the greatest gift I have ever received…the gift of golf. I remember barely even being able to hold the club when I started, and now I haven’t lost to my dad in five years!
Regardless, even if your story differs from mine, we are all asking ourselves the same question: What do we get our golf-loving dads? In this article, I am going to lay out three totally different gifts that all stay within the $150 range. These gifts are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, and even Father’s Day.
Before I get into the gift choices, let me talk about the revolution currently happening in golf style. Golf has always been stereotyped as a “stuck-up” sport that you need to dress very traditionally for. These days are over! As athleisure has taken over the fashion scene, golf has been able to adapt. A prime example of this change is highlighted in golf shoes. Major players in the golf shoe market used to be FootJoy and Ecco. Now we are seeing sneaker companies such as Adidas, Nike, and Puma dominate these markets due to their style and comfort. As this golf revolution continues to happen, we need to make sure your dad’s style is up to date!
The three products I am going to recommend are designed by brands on the forefront of this revolution. The first product is a bag designed to combine the traditional carry-style bag with modern color palettes. The second product is my favorite new golf shoe in terms of style and functionality. Finally, I will round it out with my new favorite golf apparel brand and one of their new, silly shirts! Reach out to a Golf Expert to purchase any of these great gifts!
1. Jones Golf Bag
Have you ever heard of Jones Golf Bag? No?! Well, I am here to educate you on the hottest carry bag the market has seen yet.
This bag is built for the active dad (or a dad you are trying to get more active!). The days of saying, “I would love to walk more, but my bag is too heavy,” are over. This bag is quite literally built for walking. The name of the game with this bag is “the lighter, the better.”
The Jones brand was founded in 1971 and combines traditional golf style with new-age functionality. I personally use this bag and absolutely love it. It features a single strap with a three-way divider and three different pockets. This bag also comes in so many different colors. I have listed my top three favorite colorways below (I really like a clean look to my bag):
When I think of my Jones bag, I imagine getting off work at five o’clock, driving over the course for a nine-hole walk at my local club, having a nice drink, and enjoying a peaceful twilight round. The fact that this bag falls within the $150 to $170 range makes it a must-buy for any dad looking to drop a few pounds during the season without the strain of lugging a large bag around.
Now that you have heard about all the walking your dad is going to do with his new Jones bag, it is time to upgrade his golf shoes for a more comfortable pair! Without further ado, the Nike Air Max 270 G golf shoes.
2. Nike Air Max 270 G Golf Shoes
I cannot say enough good things about these shoes. The shift in the golf shoe market is one that I feel needed to happen so badly. I could not stand wearing those heavy, clunky FootJoy metal spikes. Now, I barely even notice the difference between my workout sneakers and my golf shoes! Nike knocked it out of the park with the design of the Air Max 270 Gs.
Nike took the original Air Max Big Air base and built it into the ideal golf sneaker, so these shoes feature the distinct Air Max bubble for maximum comfort and athletic ability. If you have ever forgotten your golf shoes and had to play in sneakers, then you know the two main concerns: water-resistance and grip. These Nike shoes feature a full mesh overlay to help keep water out of the body of the shoe. If you live in rainy Seattle, Washington, or humid Jupiter, Florida…you can rest assured that your Nike Air Max sneakers will hold up. These shoes feature soft spikes on the bottom, so your father won’t have to worry about walking in the lines of his buddies on the green. If your dad complains about the constant foot pain that comes with the ancient golf shoes he's been wearing, this is the gift for him!
Coming in at a cool $150, these shoes are not only within budget but are actually cheaper than a lot of shoes in the current market. Aside from functionality, the style points your dad will earn when he rocks these on the course will be worth the money. It’s time to upgrade your dad’s style, he needs these shoes!
3. Puma Mattr Snack Shack Golf Polo
If your dad already has a great carry bag and some comfortable golf shoes, then take a look at these shirts! The Puma Golf Mattr Snack Shack Golf Polo is one of my favorites right now. I do not think that there is a better golf shirt brand out there right now other than Puma. Scratch that, I think Puma may be the best golf clothing brand out there.
Puma rose to golf importance on the backs of elite professional golfers like Rickie Fowler (my personal favorite golfer) and Bryson Dechambeau (not my favorite golfer). The good news is that whether your dad plays like Rickie Fowler or the complete opposite, he can still rock the new Puma Mattr Snack Shack polo.
This polo isn’t for the faint of heart in terms of stylistic choices. The shirt features an awesome print of what I can only imagine is the order of 90 percent of golfers at the halfway house after nine greens: hotdogs and a cold beverage! The pattern is supplemented with golf gloves and tees. I love the way this shirt plays on the motif of the modern golfer who looks forward to the hotdog at the turn to give them the extra fuel they need to finish up the round!
If your dad is a fan of cold beverages, hotdogs, and looking good on the course…I totally recommend picking up this shirt. I would pair this shirt with a nice pair of white or tan shorts. The pattern on the shirt is what I like to call “busy,” so I would stick to plain, neutral colors on the bottom. Coming in at $75, you could buy him one of each color and still stay on budget!
If your dad likes to pick out his own gifts, you can always gift him a Curated gift card that he can use to make a golf gear purchase with free expert help.
Listen, no matter what you get your dad, I am sure he will love it. This list is by no means comprehensive, but I think these are three great options if you are looking to get your dad a super quality present for right around the $150 range.
