About this review This review is my own honest opinion of the driver, which I got in September 2020.

My take

The Cobra King SpeedZone Driver is really good for long hitters and is geared towards players looking for a rather forgiving driver, and those who are looking for distance improvement as well.

What I was looking for

Winning this club came at a very good time. I was about ready to upgrade from my Ping G driver that had a stiff flex on it. With my very fast swing speed, I needed to take that step up to X-stiff. So this was a win-win (no pun intended)!

Why I chose this club

Well, I decided to stay with this club because I hit it extremely well. It took me one day to love the driver. The day after I won it I took it to the range and tested it and the rest is history. It is a true bomber and it is rather forgiving as well. Keeping the ball straight is always what a golfer is trying to do. Therefore, I stuck with it because I did just that.

What I love about it

  • Distance: This club is a true bomber. I can pick up a lot of yards with this club.
  • Forgiveness: Sometimes I will miss the sweet spot with my shot, but it doesn’t go off its line very much, and still picks up roughly the same distance as it would if I were to hit it in the sweet spot.
  • Feel: I feel as if when I hit the sweet spot I don’t hit anything at all. It usually comes off so soft and barely feels like I hit anything, which I am a fan of. It feels extremely clean, even on misses.
  • Sound: This club doesn’t have the common loud ding, it is much more subtle but very pure sounding. I like the subtle thud it gives off.
  • Adjustability: There are many different adjustments that can be made to this club, whether it be turning the shaft and increasing or decreasing loft angle, or adjusting the weights on the bottom of the club.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: It is a very clean-looking club with a rounded clubface – it just looks really sweet. The shaft also has a clean graphite shiny look to it.
  • Grip Feel: Grip feel is great – I never feel the club slip or twist even on the worst misses.
  • Launch Angle: The 9 Degree angle lets me pick up maximum distance. It doesn’t shoot the ball straight up in the sky, but through the air at a nice low angle to pick up maximum distance.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Shaft Feel: This particular shaft is very nice but the 75g is just a bit heavy, sometimes when it feels heavy I struggle to hit it. Maybe it is time for me to order the same shaft but a lighter version.
  • Shaft Performance It is very stiff for sure. Very hard to put much fade on my ball as I mainly hit the draw no matter how much I try otherwise.

Best shot with this club

My best shot by far was on a 365-yard par 4. I drove the green and had 15 feet for eagle! I missed the eagle putt … but let’s not talk about that!

Value for the money vs. other options

I actually won this driver in a captain and crew fundraiser tournament. Give that the club was “free” due to winning it, it’s the best value ever! But seriously, right now in August of 2021 you can get this driver for $349.99 which I believe is not a bad price, due to the fact that the newest model drivers are going for roughly 550, this is only 1 year old and in my opinion, is one of the best drivers Cobra has produced.

Final verdict

Not only is the Cobra King SpeedZone a true bomber, but it will also help increase driving distance. It is forgiving and gives off an amazing feel!
