Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and it’s time to start brainstorming gift ideas. This year, instead of giving your Mom an overpriced bouquet of flowers, give her something that she will use and will last for years to come! If your mom loves to ski, there are tons of great gift options. Whether your Skier Mom rips groomers, chases powder, or is the queen of the bunny slope, there’s a great ski gift that will get her stoked for next winter!

1. Glove Liners

Glove liners, such as the Burton Women’s Touch N Go Liner, are a perfect, versatile gift for your Skier Mom! The slim design makes them a great extra layer to wear underneath ski gloves or mittens on a cold, wind-chill-below-zero day. They can also be used as a lightweight, standalone glove option on those April spring skiing days or out in the backcountry. With features such as waterproof, windproof, and touchscreen compatibility, your mom doesn’t even have to wait until next ski season to use these! She can take them camping, hiking, running, or cycling, and maintain function while keeping her hands warm!

2. Ski Socks

With a new pair of ski-specific socks, such as the Smartwool Women’s Performance Targeted Cushion OTC Socks, cold feet and blisters will never ruin your Mom’s day on the slopes again! The Merino wool keeps feet warm on even the coldest days, but the breathability will control temperature on the warmer days (nobody wants sweaty feet!). Strategically placed padding adds comfort for a full day of skiing, from the time the lifts start spinning to the last chair of the day!

3. Balaclava

A balaclava, such as the Blackstrap The Hood Balaclava Facemask, provides the ultimate protection from the elements! This all-in-one hat, facemask, and neck gaiter is low-bulk, fits underneath a ski helmet, and the face covering can be pulled up or down, adding versatility for those days when the weather can’t make up its mind. Give your mom the gift of warmth and comfort for full ski days, regardless of the temperature!

4. Beanie

A beanie, such as the Coal Uniform Beanie, is the perfect accessory for any Skier Mom. It can be worn while shredding on the slopes, hanging out in the lodge, or during daily commuting and errand-running throughout the colder months. With a variety of colors to choose from, this beanie is not only functional but stylish as well!

5. Baselayers

Baselayers, such as the Smartwool Women’s Merino 250 Crew Baselayer Top and Smartwool Women’s Merino 250 Pattern Baselayer Bottoms are an essential part of any skier’s ski apparel drawer, and therefore, a great gift to give your mom this Mother’s Day! While baselayers are hidden away and therefore don’t get the recognition that ski jackets and pants get, these underlayers play a huge role in skier comfort. Merino wool is super soft and warm, with exceptional breathability and the ability to dry quickly, so your mom won’t have to take a ski run off to warm up in the lodge on chilly days but also won’t have to take time to shed layers when the sun starts shining! Flatlock seam construction makes these baselayers super comfortable, and a variety of color, pattern, and weight options means you can tailor your choice to your mother’s specific needs.

6. Backpack

A backpack, like the Black Diamond Dawn Patrol 15 Pack, is a skier-specific pack that has plenty of space for all the things your mom needs handy while on the slopes. While the pack’s intended use is to carry ski touring essentials and backcountry safety gear, this pack is versatile enough to be used at the resort stuffed with everyday ski essentials!

7. Goggles

A new pair of ski goggles, such as the Giro Lusi Goggles, is the perfect gear upgrade for your snow-loving mom! These goggles are specifically made for women, and the triple-layered foam and microfleece face contour makes them extremely comfortable for the wearer. Features such as expansion view technology and Evak vent technology ensure high performance, while an interchangeable strap and lens system and loud lens color options add style!

8. Ski Jacket

Your ski jacket is the ultimate way to express your style on the ski slopes! With so many loud colors, fun patterns, and unique styles, the perfect jacket is out there for everyone. This Mother’s Day, give your mom the gift of ski style and warmth with a new ski jacket, such as the Picture Organic Women’s Exa Insulated Jacket. This jacket is insulated, waterproof, and has taped seams for maximum protection from the elements. For more versatility, a shell jacket such as the Flylow Women’s Billie Coat Shell Jacket is a great option. By not having insulation, it can be worn standalone on warmer days, or with layers underneath on colder ones!

Regardless of what your Mother’s Day budget is, there’s something on this list for everyone to give to their mom! From “just a little something” gifts to pooling-together-with-your-siblings gifts, you can give your mother the gift of skier style and function! Growing up skiing in Stowe, Vermont, I learned to high speed cruise on fresh cuordoroy, chase my older brother through the trees and glades, make my turns tight and quick on moguls, and drop into a steep and narrow double black diamond. When my Dad took me on a trip "out West" for the first time when I was 15, I got my first taste of deep powder and I never looked back. Now, I am lucky to call Salt Lake City, Utah my home, and ski resorts like Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, and Brighton are my backyard. Since living in Utah, I have expanded my ski skills and knowledge even further: I've taken avalanche safety classes and have added the Wasatch backcountry to my regularly visited ski spots, I've taken weekend trips to Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Steamboat, and other top class resorts that are just a stones throw away, and skied on the 4th of July. Through all of these experiences skiing at various locations and on every type of terrain out there, I've learned firsthand how having gear that is perfectly tailored to your specific, unique needs can make all the difference. Ski boots don't have to - and shouldn't - make your feet hurt! Just because you are the same weight and height as your friend, doesn't mean the ski type and length they use is what you should use. If you are interested in getting into backcountry touring, get the gear and the education! I understand that everyone enjoys the outdoors differently, and I want to hook you up with the right ski gear so that you love the winter as much as I do!
