Expert Review: Srixon Z-Star Diamond Golf Balls

About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the golf balls which I purchased with my own money in May of 2022.
My take
The Srixon Z-Star Diamond is a great golf ball for golfers who want great greenside control and increased spin on long and mid-iron shots. This is a high-quality golf ball that will truly spin when you want it to!

How they perform
What I was looking for
I have been playing with the normal Srixon Z-Star golf ball (not the Diamond version) for a few years now and I have really been happy with the way that it plays. I honestly just wanted to try out the newly released Diamond version to see how it played in comparison to the normal Z-Star!
Why I chose this golf ball
I chose to buy this golf ball because I have always loved the original Z-Star golf balls and wanted to test out the new version. And I chose this version because it was new to the market, so I wanted to test it out side by side with the normal Z-Star to see how they performed against each other.
What I love about them
- Distance: I was very happy with the distance! I felt like I was getting a few extra yards on all my shots with the Z-Star Diamond!
- Feel: This ball feels great off of the face. Not too hard and not too soft!
- Durability: I thought that the ball was very durable. I played an entire round with one ball and it just had one scuff on it by the end of the round – and that was because I hit the cart path on one of my shots. Compared to other high-quality models, durability is pretty average. I wouldn’t say that it is the most durable golf ball on the market but the durability compares to all the other top balls available.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Green Spin: Great amount of greenside spin. I would say that it has a bit less than the normal Z-Star but that is perfect for me. A lot of times with the normal Z-star I would end up coming short because of too much spin!
Best shot with this golf ball
I would say that my best shot with it yet was on a short par 4 where I only had 106 yards in from the fairway. I hit my 54-degree wedge and flew it directly over the flag about 10 yards long, and it spun all the way back to 3 feet from the pin. Gotta love a tap in birdie!
Value for the money vs. other options
I would say that this ball performs just as good as the Titleist Pro V1, Callaway Chrome Soft, and TaylorMade TP5 balls, AND it is cheaper. Might as well save some money!
Final verdict
Overall, I was very pleased with the Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf ball. It performed just how I wanted it to and I plan to continue using it. Honestly, there was nothing about this ball that I did not like. I was very pleased and definitely plan on keeping it in my bag!
