About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the driver which I tested in February and June of 2022.
My take
The 2022 Cobra LTDx MAX Driver is amazing for those who struggle to add strokes to their final score because they miss the fairway right. I found that this club keeps the ball on the fairway, reduces slice spin, and makes it easy to control ball flight.

How it performs
What I was looking for
I like to be able to control the trajectory of the ball but my miss is a hard slice right. I was looking for a club with draw bias that would reduce slice spin but was still able to work left and right. In addition, I did not want the draw bias to overcorrect and create a left miss.
Why I chose this club
Ultimately, I liked this club because for me, the Cobra LTDx MAX reduced my right misses consistently and still allowed me to create draw spin that was controllable – no duck hooks here.
Overall, in comparison with its contemporaries of draw-biased clubs such as the Stealth HD and The Rogue Max, the Cobra had the least amount of slice spin (and spin in general). The LTDx MAX also let me work the ball to the left without producing a pull hook.
What I love about it
- Distance: In my opinion, this club is the sleeper of the year. It is sneaky long with very low spin, and rolls out a mile.
- Forgiveness: Cobra revolutionized milled face technology and has produced an extremely forgiving club with the unique design of the LTDx MAX. Whether I hit this club on the toe, center, or heel, I’m still able to find the fairway.
- Feel: The feel of this club at impact is oddly satisfying. I definitely know when I hit this club in the center of the face.
- Sound: Some people might balk at the sound this club makes at impact, but not me. When I strike the ball well, it sounds like I’m in Yankee Stadium and just knocked one over the wall.
- Workability: Out of the draw biased drivers I tested, the Cobra LTDx MAX was the most workable in both left or right directions.
- Adjustability: I like that the adjustability of this club is extremely simple to understand and can produce the exact effect that I want it to.
- Aesthetic Appeal: At address, this club really produces confidence and if I’m honest, the red and blue color scheme looks awesome.
- Launch Angle: I find it very easy to control the launch angle of this club simply by my position to the ball.
- Spin: Here’s where this club shines; this is one of the lowest spinning drivers I’ve ever hit, and this only has a positive effect on every shot I hit. It reduces spin on bad shots and rolls out further than other drivers on good shots.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Shaft Feel: I found the stock shaft to be a little light. I would recommend a heavier shaft for those with a stronger swing.
- Shaft Performance: I found the shaft to be a little whippy, which typically translates into a wider dispersion.
- Grip Feel: The grip to me felt a little firm and I’m not a big fan of how the Arrcos sensor feels at the end of the grip.
Best shot with this club
One afternoon, one of the most brilliant capabilities of this club came into play. The slope of the fairway was so extreme, that the only shot to play was a draw. Given that the club was designed with its right to left bias, I knew I could draw it; the question was how much? So I positioned myself for a draw and struck the ball with confidence. Boom! Homerun, and the ball settled with a perfect angle into the green. It was a simple par, but I’ll take that any day on that hole.
Value for the money vs. other options
I’d compare this to the TaylorMade Stealth HD and The Rogue Max, though the Cobra LTDx MAX has the least amount of slice spin. With all the spectacular offerings from all the go-to major brands, such as TaylorMade, Callaway and Titleist, value is a misnomer with the Cobra LTDx MAX. This club games with the big boys and dunks.
Final verdict
I was looking for a driver that would take my right miss out of play and ended up finding a driver that was a magic wand. I found the Cobra LTDx MAX Driver, and since using the left side of the fairway to get the best angles into the green is an option, I’ve created more opportunities to score.
