The Taylor Made Stealth HD driver is a powerful distance-packed driver and is perfect for anyone out there looking to add yardage to their drives.

How it performs

What I was looking for

I have been looking for a new driver for a long long time now. I have played a Ping G15 driver for as long as I can remember. Looking for the perfect one has been a tedious process for me as I am very specific in what I want. I want a driver that looks good, feels comfortable, has the perfect shaft and of course, more distance. I found that 100% in the new Stealth HD driver.

Why I chose this club

I was at a demo week in Arizona and the TaylorMade representatives showed us this new club and discussed the new Carbon Face technology they used in development. Passed around was a driver that was hit more than 500 times. There weren’t any marks on it, so I was intrigued. I decided to give this club a go because of the traditional look, color, and that soft carbon face.

What I love about this club

• Forgiveness: This driver is super forgiving and highly adjustable for lie and loft. 460cc head with a higher head shape than a longer head shape (which was in the SIM and SIM2 Max drivers).
• Distance: The distance I got from this club was unlike any other driver I have ever hit. I immediately gained 25 yards total distance and 15 yards carry distance.
• Feel: The carbon-faced driver feels amazing. Soft, silent, powerful.
• Launch angle: I have always played a 9 degree driver and the Stealth HD was set at 10 degrees for me. I was expecting to launch it too high, but the launch was perfect. It is quite easy to adjust this club for the perfect launch angle to optimize carry and overall distance.
• Shaft Feel: The Ventus blue 6 shaft is now my absolute favorite shaft for a driver. I was able to try this shaft in quite a few other drivers also and it is fantastic. The kick feels great at impact. I didn’t have to work hard at all to square the club up and the weight of the shaft feels perfect.
• Grip: I’m a huge fan of a velvet style grip and TaylorMade’s grip was definitely to my liking.
• Aesthetics: The Stealth HD looks great. Very traditional club head shape and the color is also great and there is absolutely no glare when looking down at the club during address.

Issues I’ve encountered

• Workability: Straight and a slight draw shapes were the only shot shapes I was able to hit with the HD version. If I was seeking to play a fade, I might try the regular Stealth or the Plus version of this driver.

Best shot with this club

Every shot was my best shot. Seriously, I couldn’t hit this driver off line if I tried. The distance was outstanding and unlike any other driver I have ever hit in 28 years.

Value for the money vs. other options

I know this driver is expensive. But, I do think it is an investment that will be well worth it. I played my last driver for 12 years or more. So, when I look at it that way, and the fact that it might cost upwards of $500 and I will play it for 10 or more years; the value of this club is definitely going to be worth it in the long run. There are definitely more affordable drivers on the market, but none that compare to the Stealth HD for distance, power, feel, looks, forgiveness, and playability.

Final verdict

This driver is absolutely amazing. I just can’t believe how far I could hit it and the control and accuracy were remarkable. I could swing as hard and fast as I wanted and banged 10 or so shots right down the middle every time.
