Head Kore 93 Skis · 2022
Very popular over the last few years. Super lightweight, easy to maneuver quickly, 93 underfoot means you can get edge to edge quickly but still float in a little bit of snow. The construction of this ski makes it light but stiff so it will go fast and cut through the crud.
Head Kore 99 Skis · 2022
Lightweight and charging. This is for the aggressive skier to get the most out of the mountain. The Kore 99 will let you ride anywhere. Griping on groomers, straight-lining moguls, slashing around in the powder this is a superb all-mountain, put a smile on your face ski!
At 99mm underfoot they will be great for just about any condition! Narrow and stiff enough to rail down groomers, but playful enough to have a blast in the pow, and maneuverable for trees, bumps, and steeps.
Head Kore 105 Skis · 2022
Coming in around 1850g per ski at this length, the Cochise and Mantra are around 2300g, but due to Head's unique build construction, these perform more like those heavier skis. They obviously will deflect and chatter more than heavier skis, but these are very impressive for their weight. Easy on the legs too!
This is an ideal one ski quiver for powder, resort chop, or side country and backcountry laps! It's light, maneuverable, playful and fun! A real top favorite for doing it all!!
Head Kore 97 W Skis · Women's · 2022
97mm waist for an easy ski to move edge to edge on hardpack and will still offer enough float to handle storm days in CO. These skis are on the stiffer side and have a long traditional camber, so they'll hold an edge on any icy day on the East Coast no matter how fast you turn. The rocker and modern sidecut add a lot of maneuverability making the ski both stable and playful!
Spring, pow, crud, groomers, you name it! An aggressive but playful ski that is easy to turn but damp at speed.
Atomic Backland 100 Skis · 2022
Lightweight and strong, this ski is one of the most versatile alpine touring skis available! Built for those backcountry skiers who want to climb fast and, most importantly, ski fast! At 100mm underfoot, the Backland 100 will perform in the widest range of snow conditions and terrain. With a super light wood core and strong powder rocker profile, this ski is ready to climb huge lines and drop big into deep snow!
This is a lightweight and strong ski. One of the most versatile touring skis on the market! The HRZN tips allow for more surface area on the tips which provides great float in softer snow. It has a combo wood core that provides great stability in a lighter ski. This is for riders who want the best performance on both the uphill and downhill!
Völkl Blaze 86 Skis · 2022
Highly maneuverable and easy to make turns with due to Volkls 3D sidecut radius technology. Suspension tip and tails make it easy to initiate turns and keep you from catching an edge when you don't mean to. A lively ski with a poplar and beech wood core that create an awesome platform for skiing on. Full sidewall construction means stability and edge grip in all conditions.
Atomic Backland 98 W Women's Skis 2022
Seriously lightweight making the uphill touring easy yet stable enough for just about anything you want to ride. Excellent edge hold for mainly groomed trails but wide enough to start finding more powder when the time comes! Slap the Baron bindings on these and she'd be unstoppable in any terrain!
Blizzard Zero G 95 Skis 2022
This is a super popular ski for backcountry touring specifically! With 95 mm underfoot they won't be too wide or too narrow for any conditions you may find out there. They will fly up the skin track, feeling like you are carrying nothing with you. This ski has a rocker-camber-rocker profile which will allow you to float over powder, reducing tons of pressure at the tip and tail, while the camber ensures great grip and stability on hard packed snow you may come across. The ski is ultralight due to it's carbon fiber frame and ultra lightweight woodcore, which doesn't take much away in terms of performance. The construction alone makes this ski one that will grip on edge while holding up in the unpredictability of ski mountaineering and touring.
A very directionally-shaped backcountry ski that rips it up going downhill! Borrows from Blizzard's renown inbounds reputation to give you a leading selection for the carbon-infused lighter touring ski lineup without giving up anything in downhill performance! With a lightweight build and racing background you know this ski will take care of you both on the way up and most definitely on the way down! Graphite sintered bases and a new 2.0 3D carbon fiber frame inlay with
Pawlonia wood to make for some really crisp tight turns on hardpack with an excpetional edge hold. This ski is the best of both worlds!
Incredibly lightweight, this touring specific ski has seen some of the biggest peaks and hardest descents. Torsional rigidity is the name of the game here, giving you great edge hold for a ski this light. Damp, stable, and predictable, this is a skier's ski that happens to not burn your thighs on the way up!
Line Vision 108 Skis · 2022
The ultimate ski to transition from powder to groomers to the trees with ease! This is a great one-ski quiver for where you will be skiing! Easily rip down any double black diamond you encounter and the medium turn radius makes these very maneuverable. The sidewall construction lends this ski to good edge control despite its wider waist.
DPS Pagoda Tour 100 RP Skis · 2022
If sub 100mm widths don't offer enough flotation, but you also don't want to burn out your legs on the ascent, there aren't a lot of better options out there than the 100 Pagoda Tour. With an aggressive powder shape for the way down and lightweight on the way up, this is a ski that many have been waiting for DPS to produce. It is not the floatiest touring ski out there and it's also not the skinniest, but it does provide a perfect balance of being a one-ski quiver-killer for alpine tourers who want to enjoy the fresh stuff after all their hard work. Not the best ski for 12-hour multi day tours, and not the best ski for taking up to Alaska, but it can and will do both serviceably. If you're trying to keep things light, but still want to float on the way down, this is your stick!
Völkl Blaze 94 Women's Skis · 2022
Lightweight backcountry/resort hybrid! Volkl took out the metal in this ski and added carbon. This lightened the ski significantly and added strength for maneuverability while making powder turns and in tight tree runs in the backcountry, tight terrain, and fresh powder.
A multilayer wood core and titanal metal plate underfoot provides power and great edge hold , but without the added weight of metal throughout. 3D sidecut radius makes this ski extremely maneuverable and able to make all kinds of turn shapes.
3D side cut tech these turn and hold an edge on anything. The women's blaze 94 is a resort destroyer! Groomed runs aren't safe and neither are the powder stashes.
DPS Pagoda 100 RP Skis · 2022
Incredibly well rounded ski for someone who wants/needs a one ski quiver. 15mm turning radius makes weaving through the trees a breeze. Strong enough to rail medium length turns on groomers, and providing stability and dampness to blow through chop.
Black Crows Ferox Freebird Skis
The most playful shape of the Freebird line. These are a a lightweight touring specific big mountain ski, with 110 mm underfoot. The added width will definitely help in deep powder. Still these skis charge in hard snow and do remarkably well for a lightweight ski at this width. Still pretty easy to maneuver, especially if you have good technique.
These guys are 110 underfoot and light but still maintaining the feel of an alpine ski, no chatter. You'll feel confident on the way down and light for your turns. These are a DREAM to tour on. These can handle anything you throw at them, and then some!
Line Vision 98 Skis · 2022
The Line Vision came out to blur the line between an inbounds and backcountry ski, making it a great 1-ski quiver for someone who likes to dabble in and out of the resort. Light enough for some skinning at around 1500g, the Vision remains powerful and stable on the downhill with its blended core, THC laminate, and 5-Cut radius.
The new Vision is lightweight and highly versatile! It holds edges well on groomers and can rip turns on hard-packed snow and surf like a dream in soft snow. A true one-ski-quiver!
DPS Pagoda 106 C2 Skis
These skis are ideal for those searching for a ski that floats exceptionally well, while maintaining the capacity to make stable and fast turning arcs on harder snow. The sidecut of the Pagoda lends itself to making exceptionally fast turns. Furthermore, the early rise shovel and the shovel width ensure that floating is a breeze. These are for the skier who prefers making fast turns throughout the powder with style rather than just straight-lining.
Atomic Backland 107 W Women's Skis · 2022
VERY wide but these skis offer surprising performance! Lighter weight and more powder-oriented than the stances but built for sending big lines in literally any terrain! They carve very well for the width and float like a dream in deep powder!
K2 Wayback Skis · 2022
This is a great ski for those just getting into backcountry skiing! A little softer of a ski and easy to maneuver for your long ascents, these skis are also easy to control on the way down. Its medium width (96mm underfoot) makes it wide enough for powder you'll encounter, without being too unwieldy for your long treks out in the backcountry. It also has a lightweight wood core which helps eliminate bulk.
A great all around ski for downhill and backcountry. The titanal laminate helps shed weight while maintaining stability. The Paulownia Tour Lite core uses paulownia wood, which is sturdy but very light and poppy. A solid backcountry ski.
Coming in at 96mm under foot for the skier looking to go way back. These are 90% BC and 10% resort in my opinion. Titanal carbon Paulownia core makes these suckers light while still being a solid ski for the way down.
Armada Trace 98 Skis · Women's · 2022
Great tip and tail rocker for pow skiing, easy turn initiation, and a lightweight ski make the Armada Trace 98 the perfect for a combination ski! They will ascend well while touring, but still feel energetic, fun, nimble, and versatile in all frontside and backcountry terrain. Built with a Caruba wood core for extra pop and a Titanal reinforcement binding plate underfoot; which adds stability but not extra weight throughout the ski while keeping the rest of the ski playful. At 98mm underfoot, they are a really great width to mix frontside with side country and BC skiing!
Armada's lightweight all-mountain ski! Reinforced with metal laminates and and rubber in its Caruba wood core. Caruba is lighweight and strong and the rubber and metal dampen out chatter/vibrations for a smooth ride at high speeds in the BC or resort!
DPS Pagoda Tour 112 RP Skis · 2022
Impressively, these skis have a 15m turning radius, tail and tip rocker that still leaves you with about 55% of an effective edge. These skis will float like a dream, help you blaze the trail for the rest of the group, and save energy on the ascent. DPS uses ash and paulownia woods, with carbon laminate and aerospace foam to give this ski incredible performance and durability without adding weight!
Decathlon Skis Fr500 Slash Women's Skis
A great and easy to rip freestyle-focused ski from Decathlon. The Slash has a 100mm waist and is versatile in many conditions but can really stick up to choppy groomers and some fresh snow, especially with a solid tip and tail rocker profile. Stable and progressive, this ski can handle bumps, trees, groomers, and everything in between!
Salomon MTN Explore 95 Skis · 2022
This is a ski made for the advanced backcountry enthusiast. It has some tip rocker to keep the ski above the snow while hiking and descending. This ski has a Karuba wood core and carbon weave which attributes to its strength and edge hold on the east coast ice. At 95mm under foot, it will be easy to control your edge pressure but not too narrow that you will be sinking while hiking.
Line Outline Skis · 2022
The convex base contouring in the tips and tails make it easier than ever to float and play above the deep snow in a buttery and very smooth fashion. Even better, they still perform on chandler, chop and any other variable of not so great snow. They’re even fun on groomers! This is such a fun ski that is the true definitely of all mountain, big mountain and a powder ski!
Dynafit Free 97 Skis · 2022
At 97 underfoot, these skis are a great width for touring in New England. Much more width and it would become difficult to control the edge on the firm surfaces. These skis are light but strong. They'll hold an edge on East Coast ice but won't be a burden to hike with.
Atomic Backland 85 Dark Blue Blue Skis
A well-balanced touring ski from the Atomic brand that is phenomenally strong and edgy. Thanks to the light wood core and the energetic carbon backbone, the weight gets a spot reduction without sacrificing downhill performance. As a narrow ski, the 85mm under foot and 172cm in length serves perfectly for a front side-oriented skier, but there is enough gradual rise in the rocker with HRZN tech for added surface area to lift a skier up and over any fresh layers they might encounter on their way down.
Recommended for anyone who wants to shed the weight without losing any performance! The 17m turn radius is ideal for hitting tight couloir chutes, trees, and moguls. This one combines Atomic's WC race-inspired construction of one of their narrower winning models with a more versatile 85mm waist that is super suitable for tracking.
K2 Talkback 96 Women's Skis · 2022
This is an incredible new ski from K2 built mostly for backcountry but it can also shred inbounds. With a light wood core and carbon stringers, this ski stays super light but incredibly stiff for whatever you can throw at it! Hose backcountry rippers that aren't afraid to rip in-bounds and out-bounds all day, everyday.
Dynafit Beast 108 Skis Neon Yellow
A ski that will allow you to rip in the backcountry. Plenty of rocker to give you float in powder and elliptical sidecut to give you good edge hold as well. A slightly wider touring option at 108mm underfoot. A solid ski that is one of the more stable touring options. It's not ultralight but light enough for long tours.
Dynafit is making some of the lightest, most touring-oriented skis on the market and that is exactly what this is for: lightweight uphill skinning and fast descents. Great powder ski and will work primarily well in BC.
Fischer Hannibal 96 Carbon Skis
These Fischer Hannibal 96 Carbon Skis are recommended for the individual searching for a ski that ensures they arrive first to the hut, to the top of the skin track, or to have great efficiency touring uphill for fitness laps at the resort. The Fischer Hannibal utilizes carbon fiber in its construction to ensure that it is among the lightest out there. A rather stiff ski that also provides stability to strong skiers on the descent.
Black Diamond Helio 116 Skis
They are superlight weight and highly versatile due to tapered tips and tails. You will stay afloat on heavy dumping snow days and remain stable the day after when the terrain has become variable and chopped up. They also have strength underfoot helping to transfer any movement directly into the ski without it being lost.
