All you need to get started fishing. A tapered leader with a butt section already tied into it. Pre-tied loop will allow you to connect directly to your fly line. Comes in a 3-pack.
Orvis Mirage™ Leader/Tippet Combo Pack
The leader attaches to your fly line with either loop-to-loop (suggested) or nail knot. This provides a strong flexible link between the fly line and the fly. Then you will tie the tippet onto the leader with a surgeon's knot, this tricks the fish so they can't see the leader or line. You typically will match the size of the tapered leader to the tippet, or one size smaller. When you try to attach too small of tippet to a larger leader, the knot doesn't hold as well and you will lose fish.
Great for fish that tend to get spooked easily like those in alpine lake settings since the Fluorocarbon is more transparent yet doesn't compromise durability. The Mirage line is exceptional when presentation matters! A spool of 30m tippet will last you awhile and helps to reduce the need to cut your leader back every time you want to adjust flies.
