The Curated Take

By the Expert Community

I just wrapped a long ski season in The North Face Freedom Bibs, so about 40ish days skiing all over Colorado. The Freedom Bibs are North Face's entry level bibs, probably designed for people who get out there 5 to 10 days a year, not 40. That being said they held up great! No issues with any seams, they stayed waterproof all season, zero tears or snags. The durability of these bibs goes way beyond the price point. North Face makes a short, regular and long in each size to get the perfect fit. I am 5'7" and bought the Medium short and my son is 6'2" (my wife is tall) and wears the Medium long, we are both very pleased with the fit. The bibs are 100% wind proof, so correct layering allows you to wear these in any weather.

The most frustrating thing about these bibs is the lack of a two way zipper up front. With only on zipper closure option, one must unzip their jacket or jackets, depending on your layering method, to gain access to the zipper. It's really annoying, especially if you are someone like me who might want to skip the lodge and duck into the trees for a quick potty break.

Ideal for
  • Very durable bibs, built for multiple, long ski seasons.
  • Multiple choices in length size allows for a perfect fit.
  • Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the fit and style.
Not ideal for
  • No two-way zipper. Jacket must be unzipped to access front zipper, making a quick bathroom break, not so quick.
  • Shoulder straps do not stay put and need constant adjusting.
  • Velcro closures on some pocket.

With reinforced nylon kickpatches, the Men's Freedom Bibs have the durability to match their waterproof, breathable performance and all-conditions style.

Key Features:

  • Standard fit.
  • Waterproof, breathable, seam-sealed DryVent 2L fabric helps keep you dry.
  • Adjustable suspenders.
  • Covered center front entry zip.
  • Adjustable waist tabs.
  • Secure-zip hand pockets.
  • Inner-thigh vents.
  • Articulated knees.
  • Reinforced kickpatches and hem.
  • StretchVent gaiters with gripper elastic.

Exceptional Personal Shopper Support for Ski Gear
5 /5
I arrived on Curated's website seeking the best price on ski boots, and more importantly, the chance to chat with a boot-fitter from home. I wanted a second opinion on the options I'd tried on at my local ski shop. I also wanted to get into the nitty gritty details of: my specific fit as double wide, small women's foot; and, the ski boot mechanics as they pertain to how women ski, to the skis I will be driving, to my current ability level, and to the level I intend to progress to. After making clear what I was looking for and sharing my measurements/ skier type with Leo, he put together his recommendations, and then answered every question I had about the items in our chat box with exceptional detail. He even jumped on a phone call to hash out my final choice for my overall set up. I had done hours of my own research prior to this, but to have Leo's one-on-one attention while reviewing a list of options "curated" specifically for my needs was a relief after combing the internet (read-Blister podcasts and Blister summit videos accessible to non-members). I confidently purchased ski boots and bindings for my new skis with Leo's guidance. Nothing about our interaction felt like the in-store sales "ick", when you feel the sales' person is pushing an item on you to make the sale. Instead, Leo was incredibly friendly as we chatted through Technica's W2W program, why he loves super feet, and other topics that gave me layer upon layer of foundational context for making my own informed decision on what to purchase that would work best for me. 10/10 service, knowledge, and efficiency in explaining his recommendations. Thanks so much Leo!!!

The board I wanted wasn’t available so Sarah quickly put together a list of boards that were similar to the one I wanted. She gave me the best recommendations to ride that hard pack on the East Coast. She was very helpful in the whole cancellation process and made the experience better! Definitely recommend her to anyone looking for some new gear!
