The Nidecker Merc Snowboard is a great option for beginner riders who are looking to progress their skills. This board will tackle all terrain the resort has to offer with its directional twin shape.
Standard Camrock Profile – This Rocker/Camber/Rocker profile has camber in the middle of the board with rocker in the tips for added float in powder.
Medium Flex – This flex is ideal for riders looking to have control when riding in areas other than the terrain park, but who still want some flex for butter tricks and to stick hard landings.
Directional Twin Shape – The board stance is setback by 1cm to help with float in powder. However, the setback is so small that the board can still be ridden switch with ease for park laps.
Diamond Nose/Tail – This new shape allows the nose to be more compact and the tail to provide increased lift. This gives both increased float in powder and switch riding capability even though the board has a slight stance setback.
Master Core – A core made of different wood types creates an excellent power-to-weight ratio, as well as gives riders a high level of response.
Nidecker may not be as recognizable a name in the states, but this is a Swiss company that has been making quality boards since '86. The merc is an all moutain, directional twin (that feels like a true twin) in the middle of their price range, that is just as happy in pow/trees as it is in the park and carving. Two key things about the Merc, and most Nideckers, is that it is very light yet durable, with multiple wood species (poplar, beech, paulownia, spruce) and a carbon/kevlar layer. They are also known for being very damp (vibration absorbing) due to their "absorbnid" topsheet tech.
