Who would love these
The Look Pivot 12 is for lighter advanced and expert skiers who want the confidence, durability, and safety of the Pivot turntable heel piece design, but don't need the burliness of the 14/15 DIN options. These are perfect for freestylers/freeriders with smaller frames who want the very best binding retention.
Why I recommend these
Expert verdict
The Look Pivots are one of the most sought-after and admired bindings on the market due to a unique turntable heel piece which allows the heel to release both vertically AND laterally in the event of fall (95% of all other bindings only release vertically). This results in way less torsional energy transferred to the knees should a fall occur, so the chances of your ACL staying intact are higher—hence why they are so coveted. They are equally well-loved by freestyle/freeride skiers due to their ability to take a beating and keep on ticking. The Pivot heel piece can be a pain to click into for new or less experienced skiers, and the 12 DIN means they are mored suited for lighter or less aggressive intermediate to advanced skiers (experts will want the 14 or 15). But the Pivot has set the standard for what a binding should aspire to be for decades now, and though pricey, they are one of the most durable binding options available.
