Who would love these
The Look Pivot 14 bindings are for highly aggressive freestyle and freeride skiers who want a binding that will stay strapped on even in the burliest terrain and airs. But it also works great for larger recreational skiers who simply want the benefit of the turntable heel piece.
Why I recommend these
Expert verdict
In the nebulous world of ski bindings, the Look Pivot manages to stand out. How, you ask? It has a unique turntable heel piece which, in the event of a fall, releases both vertically AND laterally, significantly reducing forces on the lower leg. The longer elastic travel also serves to prevent any pre-release, and the bomber steel heel piece keeps my boots centered and engaged. So what does all this mean? It means that when I'm charging hard through steep terrain or airing off tabletops, I can trust the Pivot 14 to stand up and keep me locked in no matter what. The high 14 DIN makes the Pivot unsuited for new skiers or much lighter skiers, and the turntable heel piece is not very user-friendly—it can be hard to orient, and even harder to step into for novices. But for experienced, advanced, and expert skiers who want a binding they can trust, from the steep and deep to the park, the Pivot is truly one of a kind.
