The Rio Freshwater Mainstream Series Trout is an all-purpose trout fly line for trout anglers of all skill levels. These lines were built with slightly heavier and shorter heads to help make casting easier. Available as either a weight forward floating line, or as a 24ft sink tip.
Key Features
- Welded Loop At Head – The welded loop at the head allows for easy leader attachments with a loop-to-loop knot attachment.
- Cold Water Coating – This line has a cold water coating for optimal fishing conditions in cold, trout water.
- Easy Loading – The shorter, heavier head enables anglers to load their fly rods more easily when casting.

This is a great option at a budget-friendly price. It is a slightly heavier weight forward (WF) tapered line than the the next step up un RIO's offerings, but the overall performance is going to be similar at close range. It's very easy to cast, and in my opinion, the only things you are sacrificing in the price difference between this and line that runs $20 more is the durability and presentation at a distance. This line has a more unique taper, with its head shorter than most. This allows it to roll over easily with a roll cast and other near target casts. Unlike most line in this price range, this one still comes with a welded loop. So beyond a performance comparison, this line will be just as easy to spool and attach your leader than higher-end line.

All around freshwater fishing situations. This one will cast smoothly, and feels good to the touch.

Anglers looking to get into streamer fishing who want to fish a sink tip tip in 2-4' of water.

Slightly heavier, easy-casting line for a multitude of situations. Short, powerful front taper for good presentation and turnover.

Nice intermediate line for anglers that have fished with a fly rod. Good for getting used to fishing a smaller trout rod.
